realistically there isnt much they can do until they get some hard numbers a month or so into launch. once they have an idea of what the playerbase is actually going to be they can look into making more servers. I would 100% rather be in a 20k queue every single time I want to play than a dead server.
No one is saying it’s your job to offer solutions, but saying " I am a paying customer" sounds like a whining entitled brat that wants things handed to them on a silver platter. Your subscription is to allow you access to the content. Not for how well the service is provided.
Y’all are blowing this discussion up into a full-blown theorycrafting thread.
Blizz - just give people more than an hour heads up before opening a server and BAM queue issue gone.
People have given a number of things that could be done to both ease the pressure on Herod, spread the pops around and also control faction imbalances. Perhaps you have not been paying attention. The fact of the matter is that blizzard feels they know what is best, yet demonstrate that they are ill equipped to wrangle populations properly. Blaming the players seems to be their plan.
I cannot read anymore of these stupid entitled threads. There’s going to be queues that’s how it is. Ffs when the new corvette launched, their build website crashed because so many people were trying to use it. Welcome to technology. This isn’t call of duty where you are logging on waiting to get into a game of 20 people. You are trying to log into a world with thousands. And no I don’t want them to raise caps any higher because then it will just be chaos doing anything ever. Farming? Forget about it. Questing? It’ll be launch day forever.
Sit down. Shut up. And wait for the 26th. No matter what they do you’re going to play so save your breath and you fingers and just stop.
Yet another person misusing the word “entitled”. Seriously, did a streamer use that word, causing all of the minions to go forth and use the word as often as possible?
Being pissed how blizzard botched name reservations and realm populations is not “entitlement”.
No it’s right. Blizzard has 0 responsibility to even allow name reserves or tell you jack diddly about realm pops. Didn’t have that in that past. Lucky name reserves were even allowed at all. Lucky we even know where groups of people are going at all. Could be like the original launch where you knew basically nothing and could end up on a garbage server. What do you guys want? A personal phone call from blizzard every day with every miniscule update? Want them to hold every players hand as they choose a realm and pick their name. Walk them into azeroth. Oh but Tommy Joe has the name thicc and Timmy wanted that name? What ever will we do. Blizzard how could you let this happen? You’re a multibillion dollar company. How could you possibly not take care of me over the other millions.
Like I’ve said 10 times now. Release another EST PvP server. Lock it and allow herod players to transfer their desired toons while its locked. In turn they get to keep their day 1 reservation names. Unlock it after 24-48 hours, So the masses can create characters.
please point to the part where blizzard blamed the players. unless you count them pointing out one of the servers is at this point, likely to be a megaserver you have less than nothing.
and all the great “suggestions” include making more servers, deleting herod and making 2-3 more servers so they split up, or something similar. all these suggestions come back to making more servers which we have already established has significant possible repercussions.
also you have less than no grounds to say that blizzard is unable to control populations on these servers, you could maybe argue that they arent being proactive.
Blizzard have done what they could, they informed people of problem servers in terms of overpopulation, opened up a new server, which despite being the apparent magical solution is still not enough for the people whos hobby seems to cry about how bad blizzard is.
they can offer free transfers if the populations remain untenable along with new servers after the dust settiles.
On a final note, every single server will see queues, the people that have reserved their names are likely people already engaged with wow an untold number of people who have not resubbed yet are going to join, and blizzard has no way of knowing even an estimation of hour numerous those guys will be. the solution to this is not to make more servers when conservative estimates are that about 60% of players wont make it to level 40 before they quit.
Who said anything about “responsibility” to do such? Players were required to have a sub in order to be eligible for name reservation, as service they offered. That meant paying for a sub. What part of this do you not understand? What part of getting what you paid for and then being pissed that the company handling that service botched the very thing they advertised equates to “entitlement”? We are “lucky” that blizzard did such a blatant cash grab at the expense of those coming back just to play classic?
Good lord you white knights are insufferable.
What about:
THAT would have been a sensible alternative to what they ultimately did 2 days after the fact: pop out a new server and expect herod players to risk the names they invested time and money into on day 1. What “significant possible repercussions” would that alternative have inflicted upon things? (Asking Slania, not Twilightbrew)
It’s still possible if they would just look at my post lol.
Yep, and closer they get to release and ignore ideas like this, the less likely it would help.
Good point!
Fly Eagle, Fly!
Its free, you don’t buy classic… its literally included in your monthly sub for retail. Which has not be adjusted to cover the cost involved. You didn’t pay for it, so does that mean you aren’t a paying customer? Instead you’re just a freeloading end-user…
Except I don’t have an existing sub and I’m not playing retail, so I am a paying customer. I would actually prefer a classic only cost, to prevent the retail subs coming to classic part time.
Exactly the problem Classic players have with being forced to pay a sub to Refail so we can “access” Classic. People like you who likely wouldn’t be here outside of it being “free”.
There are freeloading end users, just not the group you think it is.
Maybe you should offer your services, since you obviously think you can do a better job. Maybe be a consultant for them and hey who knows then one day you can get on the forums and brag how smooth everything is because you put in your two cents and they went for it !!
I’m the paying customer
If I am a paying customer and I don’t like the service I generally just don’t give my business to that company anymore ? maybe its time to take a break.
I once had an incredibly wise boss who said, “don’t just complain, offer solutions”.
So there is a couple of solutions for you. Not that I am incredibly wise but then again its really not that hard to figure out is it ? Just don’t play the game problem solved !
Bro. We pay a monthly fee. So yes we are all paying customers. And by purposefully preventing people from playing, they are literally telling people to F off, we don’t want you playing classic. This 2 hour long queue timer is bullshi*. This is most definitely on Blizzard.
How, exactly? Contrary to popular belief, there is no server technology to handle hundreds of thousands of concurrent, active connections. It doesn’t exist. 60k active connections with the amount of data they must be handling is already incredibly impressive.
There are servers that are at capacity. They just are. There are other servers. But you won’t because you have a good reason to stay on the server you chose. Cool, cool, cool, cool, cool. But, if your choice landed you the queue, is it blizzards fault?
“Blizzard! Why didn’t you advance telecommunication technology by a decade so I can play a game when I want!”
