Question for the class designers

They could stand, to be much more engaged with the community. As with other things they won’t do I suspect it’s an issue of $$$. (they really should invest more into their game; but I hear microsoft does that sort of thing and is about to be our new daddy)

I don’t think that you’ll hear from a designer here, I cannot imagine the massive pile on from the forum folk. One has to admit, y’all do yammer on quite a bit. And, it is funny, the tone of the thread is, “designer, defend yourself”. Man, I’d not come in here or even look in on my lunch break.
There have been too many stories of, lets be nice, passionate players who have gone out of their way to communicate and threaten and put the heat on designers in the past. Any sane employee would shut that line down, hard and fast.

Starfire’s Cleave is not fun to use as a main AoE ability, since you are still casting it at a single target. Ground Targetted abilities are more fun IMO.

I think it’s funny people are using “class designers” in the plural.

As if Blizzard has more than 1 guy doing it, these days.

They should definitely have some people to converse with the players of said classes. They might get some flack for it at the beginning by people complaining for the sake of complaining, but I believe it’d be good for the game in the long run.

Bc blizz literally has 2 class devs for ALL the classes.

They don’t want you to know the direction of each spec, nor do they feel that your presence on the forum validates any sort of effort on their part to explain anything to you. They see themselves as above you so they feel they don’t need to answer you.

I disagree, I don’t think there’s any point in explaining their bad decisions to the playerbase.

If your class is miserable to play, but the designer takes time out of his schedule to explain WHY he made your class miserable to play, will it really make you feel better?

Remember when they used to lecture players how they were playing their spec wrong? Or that their “internal data” showed that underperforming classes were actually fine? What would be the point of going back to that? It accomplished nothing.

This is fair. This is also why most players want a spammable Starfall (Legion) back in the game.

Very angry wall of text entered here aswell

We used to have detailed feedback about why they changed what they did, and what direction they were going with changes to classes back when Ghostcrawler was still around… but ever since his departure from blizzard patch notes have been completely lacking and dev presence on the forums has steadily died off…

And they wonder why we don’t like the changes… communication is key! Tell us why you changed something! Tell us what the goal of a series of changes is! Tell us what is going on not just “X ability is now 15% stronger/weaker.” Why is it that? What was the intention? What should we expect going forwards?

I’m not talking about explaining their decisions. I’m talking about literally having a conversation for more detailed feedback. Even in the PTR or Beta forums we rarely have that.

Some classes get multiple posts about their decisions and how they’re taking feedback while others don’t get a single one. It happen this 9.2 PTR.

You don’t have to explain it to me, I played a bear tank for 15 years, it’s been years since the last blue post about bears.

The developers simply have no interest in what the players think. They think we’re wrong and that they’re infinitely smarter than us because they got hired for a job on a game somebody far more talented than they are created years ago.

I just can’t believe we’ve had 3 expansions now with virtually the same class design. I mean you a few specs were changed (Holy Paladins, Shadow Priests) but most specs play pretty much the same as they did in Legion.

In many cases worse.
