I just resubbed today. Have a few classes up. Ttb is Hunter is my only 120.
I want to do Paladin. Always love the lore and Paladins in general. I love to dps but really want to tank but insanely scared of tanking.
Any tips and help on tanking and ways to do it and encouragement?
I know this game can be very toxic but also not.
I’d be rolling level 1 and doing the grind up no.boost.
Tbh you probably wont run into any issues tanking until you reach max level(in regards to CD management you’ll need to learn that at 120). Prot pally is very strong when it comes to leveling imo, are you going to use looms?
I always found prot pally (out of my 3 tanks) to be the most user friendly.
Drop consecrate, use your shield of the righteous to buff armor during periods of high physical dmg
Use avengers shield to interrupt casters and bring them close to ya

I wouldn’t worry that much about min-maxing for leveling. Just learn the basics of what each button does and have fun!
Actually playing right now. When I ding 10 and can spec change in to Prot. Is it better to level as a prot or ret? Ultimately I want to tank and learn how but also like side dps?
I like the prot pally. My main is a mage but this xpac, I decided to focus on this toon. Tanking can be intimidating, I was myself. I started running things with my guild who understood I was learning. Ask a guild tank to go with you and coach you along if they are willing (easier in voice chat). Once you feel comfortable, queue up and go.
Now I just read that your only 120 is a hunter. So for what its worth, when i started this toon, I leveled it in random dungeons. never had a problem that I can remember. Many folks have heirlooms anyway so mistakes are easily absorbed by the group.

Can I level fully as Protection?
Absolutely
Pull everything and aoe it down. The biggest problem is gathering enough mobs. Mount up, grab 5 or more, drop consecration and cleave then down.
Yup grind level aoe on that pally chief. Honestly I found pally more fun to level as prot vs ret. You won’t hit many toxic spots till the 100+ range as I recently had a freak on wildhammer threaten to kill my family cause as a warrior I let a add get loose in TW PoS on one of the hills and he went completely apecray for the next 40m, yes screen shotted and reported him to blizz thankfully
Everyone otherwise as I was l leveled up has been chill quiet and just there to do their job like the rest of us. Heirloom up strap on that sword and board get your beard on and sling that shield like your making Captain America proud. Your starting at lvl 1 so you’ll get the learning curve as you play. Worse case check in with Icy veins. Their guides are “usually” pretty legit for pointers.
