Again, Blizzard is okay with this, but I think putting out misinformation about what is happening only leaves open avenues for argument.

cloning isnt automation as the game maker defines the word for their purposes. so there is no misinformation.

I’ve never been a fan. I personally think it breaks the way the game is supposed to be played, it allows players advantages that other players cannot realistically attain. Multiboxers will of course point out that you could in “theory” do the same thing as them without multiboxing, but realistically that’s not the case. For example there is an advantage of safety that simply is not a realistic option to others (you can’t have 5-10 players following you around while you herb gather to ensure you can one shot anyone that attempts to gank you) and it significantly reduces the mat prices, giving single client players less gold for the mats they collect in a regular, single character fashion.

The multi-boxing community is extremely vocal, so you should expect that these kinds of topics will almost always be met with immediate responses of “bUt ItS nOt ChEaTiNG!” and they are correct. The meaningful conversation about multi-boxing isn’t about whether or not it is cheating (as Blizzard’s current position is that it is not) but rather whether or not we as the vast majority of the player base who do not multi-box agree with Blizzard’s decision and should push for a change in their position.

You need third party software to multibox. If I recall what’s banned is botting, they don’t care if you use software so that you 1 “jump input” is received by 40 characters or w/e. If that was the case, multiboxing would be bannable when it clearly isn’t.

Only a very small number of people do advocate for a change without screaming about it being cheating. The vast majority of the anti-multiboxer arguments are “bUt It iS ChEaTiNg”.

Just look at this thread, only a couple people are even halfway interested in real discussion, the rest are a bunch of parrots saying the same things that have been said for the past 15 years.
