Question about Multiboxers

So glad I got done farming the seahorse before the bots showed up. Its not against the rules but I agree with the above, from the economy to WPVP its just cancerous. I don’t see a different in shadowing key strokes from one program to 20 other programs and straight up automation. Its still 3rd party software being used. I used to think maybe blizz just doesn’t care because it isn’t that popular, but this xpac and the druids… its obvious blizz just wants that sub.

1 player, multiple characters simultaneously vs 1 player with 1 character.

Its cheating and nothing can change my mind. Not going to circle with nonsense and excuses.

It will spread like a virus.

Automation is where a program operates on its own with out a person pressing keys, keycloning software still requires someone at the keyboard pressing the buttons.

So is your OS, the drivers and software that your keyboard and mouse use to operate. Though I suspect with only 1 post I suspect this is someones alt just trolling you already knew all of this.

5 v 1 will end the same way regardless of how many players are involved or gear level. Anything a multiboxer does, a guild can do, and they’re usually better at it.

This hasn’t been true for along time. ISBoxer is FTL which means “focusless, targetless, leaderless.”

And besides all that, /follow doesn’t work in Warmode.

It seems pretty common that people don’t understand what “third party software” is.

computer programs that are supplied or developed for a particular purpose by a different company from the one that supplied or developed the existing programs on a particular system

So, you and Blizzard is the first and second party. ANY software you use to play WoW is the “third party” and that includes Windows and DirectX.

Cheating means doing something against the rules. That’s all there is to it. It’s you anti-multiboxers that want to twist the meaning.

Blizzard doesn’t consider it to be any more “unfair” than grouping up.

Where do you draw the line? I have a 20 button mouse. Does that give me an “unfair” advantage over some laptop user playing with a trackpad? How about people with ultra-wide screen monitors? They can see more of the game world than people with normal monitors.

In my head I picture a big amalgamation of players standing in one spot and a stready stream of 1 horde rushing in to kill him and getting yeeted.

Never, not even if it was 250 DKS and 250 shamans, doing something legitimate more doesn’t make it cheating.

You just wanna open the whole can of worms lol

Never, and if we are going to use this as our definition at what point is too many individual players grouping together cheating? If merely amplifying something constitutes cheating then that applies to all things right?

I’m curious if you guys managed to kill this person. Surely someone would say in /1 “Hey, let’s all group and kill this multiboxer”. Going in one by one head on seems like a pepega strat.

No, players cannot define what is and isn’t cheating in this game. Players are welcome to pretend they can define whatever they want, just like players are welcome to RP as dragons. RP’ing as a dragon won’t really make your warlock a dragon though, it’s just a pretend thing, the same thing as a player made pretend definition of cheating. The only word that matters here, in the end, is what Blizzard has to say.

You do you though. :+1:

Players don’t have a say. If it were up to players then multi-boxing would be banned. It;s not up to players, it’s up to the sole discretion of Blizzard.

Players are never happy here, you’ll find that out after you spend some time on the forum. We complain about literally anything Blizzard does or doesn’t do. The stocks are doing fine, really fine actually. Activision-Blizzard stock doesn’t depend on WoW. lol

Just report all the multi boxers. Makes sense to me!

If that makes you feel better :man_shrugging: I wish I knew how many times I’ve been reported while multiboxing, probably going to be a lot more once I actually make it to 120

In what way are multiboxers acting dishonestly or unfairly?

I’ve actually encountered the same cheater.

It always sucks and hopefully Blizzard will disable this blatant exploit.

:cake:

I’m optimistic that considering how bad it has become that some changes are incoming.
It’s never been this bad and I’m sure blizzard is aware of it.

So what you’re basically saying is that no one should be allowed to use addons? Addons are third-party programs. If we follow your line of thought, there would be no quest helpers, no raider IO, no mail or AH addons.

That line that everyone seems to screw up from the ToS, DOES NOT say that ALL 3rd-party programs are not allowed. The sentence states that any 3rdPP that does not follow the ToS, are not allowed.

If we’re going to be splitting hairs here then no, they aren’t programs. Addons are code that WoW interprets. Even addons that have external clients like TSM don’t interact directly with the WoW client.

Blizzard’s stance on what is or isn’t acceptable aside, it doesn’t do the discussion any good when we play stupid about what they’re referring to when they say ‘third party programs’. No, they don’t mean Windows either (I can’t believe someone said this); they’re referring to anything outside of the expected that interacts with the WoW client, and they’ve said in the past that they’re okay with the common multi-boxing software being an exception; there really isn’t anything more to it.

No third party software that lets you control 1-20 characters at once is not the same to an third party piece of software that lets you find herbs differently or tell you when a boss is about to do something.

Sounds like a program to me.

Are you sure?

I use third-party hardware to play WoW all the time. My mouse…my monitor…my computer
