"Quest Log Is Full" Why is this still a thing?

The game is becoming so dated and obsolete it doesn’t want you to play it anymore.

I get the reason behind Blizzard limiting it to 25 quests due to phasing, ESO does the same thing for the same reason. That said, you would think by this point in time technology would have caught up and game developers would have found a way around this. Its rather annoying.

How does the quest in your log on “phase” you? I know there are some areas with different phases because of quest lines, some of those are starting areas. What recent areas are effected by phasing that isn’t a specific quest line though?

I think we need a much expanded quest log for sure. I needs to be split into category’s like:

  1. Dailies
  2. WQ’s
  3. PvP
  4. Seasonal
  5. Raid and Dungeons
  6. Professions
  7. Class
  8. Legacy and whatever else I’m sure could be added.

So you open your quest book and select which category you need and done, they would also auto select if you were in the quest location.

If you accept the beginning of a quest line, it may phase you. If you accept the beginnings of multiple quest lines (even very short ones), your phasing may become a difficult-to-untangle snarl of quest phases. If you could accept unlimited quests, I’m certain the number of people complaining about phasing issues would skyrocket.

Only certain zones/areas have this phasing in place for certain questlines. If I take a quest in Goldshire it’s not going to effect my “phase” in Drustvar.

I wonder if you mean “sharding” which is a completely different system. Addons for auto-grouping made a mess of some shards in Legion to which Blizz put out some new addon rules so these addons couldn’t throw you around in groups so quickly. They ended up adding even more rules so it’s really hard to make a good group-finding addon now because Blizz is worried about something showing how fragile their sharding system is. Also, no, taking a quest does NOT shunt you off into another shard.

It definitely would be nice to have it upped especially with so many quests that auto pop up everytime i log in on a toon. On my main it’s not a big deal but there’s a lot i dont bother to repeat on my alts and it gets messy. Honestly I dont see why there’s a max in the first place other than having too many might eat up resources.

Do you have a quest addon that’s interfering? Hit L for the quest log - has the count right up there on top.

Finish your old quests. I haven’t had the error on any of my 120s.

It wouldn’t affect you at all for the quest log to be increased, so why do you care about how others quest and how they need more space?

Yeah, there’s no good reason why there can’t be another 50+ quest slots nowadays… right? Or can a programmer type person explain why this would be too hard to do?

I know this is crazy, but hear me out. Maybe you could finish some of your quests before trying to pick up new ones?

It’s like when you’re a child and want cereal. You have 3 open boxes but grab an unopened one and get mad when your parents say to finish the others first.

That has already been explained by several people. I, as well as others, have numerous quests that are either partially completed or acquired through tedious means that aren’t worth repeating. There is zero downside to them increasing the quest log limit so I’m not sure why you’re bothered by this request.

I think it’s less of a conscious decision on Blizz’s part and more of a thing where they just have not thought of it.

It doesn’t help that 6 slots get filled with pet battle quests that you can’t abandon.

I always pictured an unlimited quest journal, the way it wouldn’t look cluttered is, it would look similar to the dungeon viewer when you click a specific dungeon to see loot and how the boss fights work.

You could click the area you picked up a quest… example, you open your quest journal, click Kalimdor, click Ashenvale and there’s your list of Ashenvale quests you picked up.

This way it won’t look cluttered or unorganized. It would be perfect. I wish Blizzard would do something like that.

I agree, they need to increase the quest log size

For me, I’ve been working on loremaster, so I have a lot of low lvl quests in my log. However, I get bored of that sometimes, and go do other things in game, but I like to keep the low level quests so I know where I left off

So I basically have like 5 slots for new quests

It’s pretty annoying

Mechagon and Nazjatar had alot of quests that should have been world quests imo. I find my quest log is full on my alts.

Some keep legion bread crumbs on 110 ding to hit later

Since many need these breadcrumbs for later. (Order hall quests)they stay.

Since to make sure you level bfa in bfa…they kill legion xp fast. Earlier expacs much nicer here. You get a level or 2 before they kill this.

Not bfa. 110 and pull that plug.

So it’s common to just back burner legion to hit XP granting bfa and come back later. Since at 120 you are capped anyway.

Blizz really needs to expand the quest log. The seasonal quests always get in the way. Dont have time to do my quests super fast and I’m a returning player. Lots of expacs to work through.

50 quests at the very least or just do away with the lock on the amount of quests altogether.
