QOL request - AoE spells should be targetable on a character

instead of getting that targeting reticule you should be able to just cast an ability and have it land at the targets feet rather than have to use your mouse to target an area. This would be for both healing and DPSing.

It has felt clunky for 16 years its time to fix it.

Am I losing my mind or can’t you double click your AoE and have it drop on your target? Or was that Old Republic?

Hard disagree.

How would this work with LOS? Being able to drop D&D for example so it splashes behind the pillar.
You’re telling me it’s easier to scan where a DH is in the world, before putting an AOE heal on them, instead of placing it exactly where you want it?

If you want to streamline it a bit, you can turn them into @cursor macros.

Clicking? Gross.
But also, no. I don’t believe that is an interaction.
If you double click an AOE it’ll just drop it under your action bars, where the icon is located.
It may have an illusion of under your target if you play zoomed in quite a bit though.

That was Swtor. One feature I wish Wow would copy from them. I like how in Swtor I can select a target and double click or double press an AOE key bind and it places it right on the center of my target. So much faster and easier to manage.

So it must be an Old Republic thing then.

And how is hitting one of your buttons gross? What do you do, use the Force to will your spells to cast? :face_with_raised_eyebrow: We all have to click something.

Thanks! I knew I remembered it was somewhere. lol

I think he’s one of those that get offended by mouse clickers. Unfortunately, he erroneously believed you were one of then without thinking critically for a hot second.

You obviously meant clicking with your keyboard in this sense.

Just fix the game so AOE spells don’t get hung up on overhead fixtures.

Can’t count the number of times my blizzard is harmlessly going off on a tree branch or chandelier above the mobs head.

But why? you can freely cast your aoe anywhere, you can pre plan , it has more versatility like this

Its like the difference between dragon charge and basic charge , where dragon chrage can also be used as a movement tool anywhere but charge must have a target

you can make a macro such as

#showtooltip whateverspell
/cast [@cursor] whateverspell

that will drop it in one bind press to wherever your cursor currently is on screen

or if you want to drop it at your feet in one button press replace the @cursor with @player

Oh… I was talking about clicking a keybind with my finger. lol

Yep! Maybe I needed different wording.
