PVP rewards based on Games Played; not rank obtained

ngl i feel like if people are only playing pvp for the rewards and not because pvp is something that’s fun to do your issues go a lot further than just adding participation rewards.

Crafted gear and PVP is pretty much two items for your Embellishments, but you still need Conquest to buy the tokens after the first two free ones. Considering you still need the same amount of conquest at the and there are no crafted PVP tokens for weapons and you won’t be able to benefit from tier bonuses using crafted gear. Remember, crafted gear maxes out at 486 if you have aspect crests, it will be weaker than Conquest gear and all crafted PVP items need a token bought with Conquest points to be relevant in this season.

Players that can beat full Conquest geared players while wearing honor gear probably don’t need the help, but I imagine that would be in the minority of players.

And yeah, Blitz has been refreshing. Most memorable moment so far has been solo-defending a node on my alt warlock in Deepwind Gorge after buying his honor gear with boa tokens. First beat a paladin, then he came back, beat him again and then he came back with an elemental shaman, beat both of them simultaneously then they hit me with five. Held that point for ages and eventually lost the node but won the match. Fun times.

Their first mistake was bringing in ranked solo shuffle

Nah, RSS is good but it needs to effectively “kill” regular deathmatch arena in order to shine. If you dropped support for regular arena tomorrow and offered Glad rewards in RSS, that queue would be popping every few minutes.

People want to play the game and test themselves, they don’t want to sit in PF getting denied partners because they weren’t a glad for 10 years in a row.

The sad part is that even tho glad is a really cool reward, people STILL don’t do arena because of all the hurdles and gatekeeping. Blizz could revive WoW PVP with a flip of a switch if they just let go of this antiquated idea of what makes a good PVPer.

What would you rather do, queue quickly into a random lobby and test your mettle with a variety comp each game or queue into whatever the meta 3s team is over and over and over and over and over and over against multi R1/AWC players. If RSS had a better rewards track and incentive, it would be amazing

It would have worked but then they redid talents, made new synergies and made numbers go bigger again.

So its still kind of 1 to 3 shotty at times.

I’d have wrath the better of the 2 pvp systems out. There on even s. priest I can live a few seconds in even WG SR zergs. That place in retail on a bad night you need combat logs to work out cause of death. If you blinked your eyes…you missed it lol.

The context was Venruki talking about players being able to get 2.4k way easier at the end. So not the “common” people.

2.4k is well above the common people, yes, I was under the assumption the thread was more about participation rewards for players who weren’t pushing Elite/Gladiator/Legend.

RSS killed the rest of arena if you dont have partners yet takes 20 minutes for a que pop. Not worth it at all

The way to get more people to do rated PvP is to find ways to make bgs more appealing to ordinary players. That’s the source of future players. Or it should be.

Sorry to break this to you but arena killed arena lmao

You get punished for PvPing at the wrong time (i.e., whenever the spec you want to play is not good). I played holy paladin in solo shuffle at the end of season 1 and it was the worst experience ever

Arena was fine until RSS went live.

Always sub 1800 players saying stuff like that.

If this ever comes back into the game I will never return.

That’s like saying ppl should get loot for wiping on raid bosses. I mean, they participated after all. Not well, but they were there.

This is one of the things i actually like about how they brought out the blitz brawl. You get a nice weekly conquest reward simply for participating (completing a game.)

BGs are an entirely different thing from rated…

Damn you need tier in PVP? Holy crap, rip. This game has too many requirements at the lowest levels.

Even in M+ +10 keys I feel completely crippled without 4 piece.
I don’t think PVP will ever work with their little clandestine grind framework they have in their 20 year old filing cabinet at Blizzard. They need to change and modernize. Gear shouldn’t be gated in PVP.
Even in Shadowlands I was mad because the blue PVP set wasn’t just free. Why we need to grind a blue PVP set just to allow you to participate baffles me.

Not exactly. The raid boss is always there. When people dont show up for Arena, queues get longer and MMR gets deflated. Theres a need to incentive bodies.

Ven’s PvP-oriented bottom line in that immense and far-ranging video monologue was that Blizz has already received enough feedback to address current concerns with PvP - and that if they would put half as much effort into PvP as they do PvE everything would be fine and dandy.

Or is it?

I also took note (in his commentary about someone else’s M+ monologue that documented drastically dropping M+ engagement) that M+ is getting pushed into the same sort of required viable comps that PvP has dealt with for years now

In other words now in BOTh PvP and PvE - if you are not playing the meta you had better hope you are happy just to grind for fun because big numbers and rewards will elude you.

Lastly, he says (correctly in my view) that we are in an age where there are a lot of viable game alternatives to retail WoW so instead of rerolling to play the class/role combo of the season a lot of (both PvP and PvE) players will now say screw it and go play something else entirely like SOD, Hardcore Classic or even a completely different game.

Nobody Is Playing Retail PvP Right Now (youtube.com)

These are all concerning symptoms

And then I got thinking is this why Blizz is offering (for the first time) boosts to max level in the store that include essentially LFR gear? Is that so players who are frustrated to not have a geared meta class toon can just drop $100 and get back in the game?

Rather than fixing the class imbalance issues that have long been at critical level in PvP - and now infect PvE - is Blizzard instead pointing us to the Blizz Store as a stop-gap solution?

Can’t play competitively with what you got?

Buy something else?

Hmm…
