Please use this thread for any feedback or bugs related to non-class set item rewards such as trinkets or special items with additional effects. Many of these items can be found on Trinketaur in Stormwind, Orgrimmar, and in Dornogal outside Foundation Hall.
A few questions you might ask yourself as you try them out include:
Is the tooltip’s description of the item’s effects reasonably clear?
Is the item’s role clear?
Does the item feel powerful and rewarding to use?
Are any mechanics particularly clunky or unfun?
Do the visual effects match your expectation of the fantasy? Do they distract from the rest of your gameplay?
Feel free to share anything else that comes to mind, and thanks in advance for your feedback!
Currently there are no 1.5minute cooldown, on-use strength trinkets that give desirable stats for the recently updated DPS DK specs. can this be looked at? There is a on use mastery trinket, Lily of the Eternal Weave that essentially house of cards without strength. Any chance strength can be added to that trinket? looking forward to playing the revamped DK DPS specs
Hate to be that guy but are we really making another 2 handed strength chase weapon?
Not even going to argue its mandatory bis for every 2h mace user because the on use could just be flavor but we have had 6 very rare 2handed strength weapons out of the last 9 tiers. I think we can take an expansion long break before the next.
Trinkets for STR users seem to mostly be 2min on use or passive, while I’m ok with this since the Unyielding Netherprism kinda fits that role anyway since you could just macro it to your 90s cooldown and it’ll work in the same exact way even providing a higher buff as long as it’s used before it’s wasting stacks.
It still feels weird that there is no alternative especially when on use trinkets historically have been very good for progression since you usually want to maximise your damage in certain windows for certain priority targets.
EDIT: Really not a fan of these additional cantrip effects on the ‘optional boss’ boot drops and the ‘last boss’ ring drop being tied to the cloak. The boots are a stupid mandatory dps increase you must have regardless of if the stats are good for you or not, so GL fighting everyone on your armour type for them when they drop. The ring is more of a defensive power, but pending mythic tuning the heroic version might be invaluable for progression to survive spicy overlaps so there’s a good chance those averse to haste will still roll on it over the specs who enjoy that amount of haste.
EDIT2: Ok so boots are a ‘bonus loot’ it seems, guess that’s covered the intial gripe of having to fight others for it. But having experiences the ‘bonus loot’ fun during DF where I saw every single other 2h str user in my guild at the time get their fyr’alath’s before me didn’t exactly feel the best week after week. I’m still of the mindset slots like this should not be locked in a given season so maybe it’s best to move the cantrip effect from these boots to be rewarded at the end of the zone campaign quest chain as a permanent upgrade to the cloak so there’s at least some option of where we can craft our chosen embellishments.
Your spells have a chance to empower the Voidcore, granting you 11.045 Intellect for 15 sec. This chance is increased by 25% while below 50% mana. Multiple applications may overlap.
Diamantine Voidcore trinket might introduce degenerate behaviour by players swapping specs before pull to start with low mana to increase chance of proccing int buff on pull.
I’d like to +1 the lack of 1.5m CD trinkets, it feels incredibly bad playing on a 1.5min CD class and having to use a 2min trinket and the only 1.5min trinket available currently is the worst possible stat, literally 30% behind, for Unholy DK
Please add Strength to Lily of the Eternal Weave or lower the cooldown of some of the other 2min trinkets
Not to mention abilities such as Spellsteal or similar that can be used to empty your manapool. The increase to proccs while below 50% mana should be tied to healspecs.
Is the tooltip’s description of the item’s effects reasonably clear?
I had no confusion about what the set or items that make up the set do from reading the tooltips.
It was tough to track how often the buff happened using just the Details addon. It has the same name as a single stack and no other visual indicators made it obvious, as far as I could tell. I will be looking for indicators on frames during raid testing.
The healing it did and the damage it did were easy to see in Details.
Is the item’s role clear?
I’m unsure if this set is for dps or healers. It would seem that throughout the course of regular play healers would get more out of it since they will trigger the mana threshold component most. It also appeared to do an outsized amount of healing compared to damage. Raid testing will paint a better picture.
Does the item feel powerful and rewarding to use?
It doesn’t feel impactful during gameplay but when looking at Details it’s incredibly strong at healing. I kind of hope it doesn’t turn out like insurance from the last tier where I don’t pay attention to it at all. Ideally, I’d notice when it procs and even more so when it procs extra from being below the mana threshold.
Are any mechanics particularly clunky or unfun?
I like that the 2 set is theoretically best used below 50% mana. It gives an incentivized feeling to having to play around mana management. Which makes me think it should be best for healers.
Do the visual effects match your expectation of the fantasy? Do they distract from the rest of your gameplay?
I didn’t notice any but would like to, it would make it more exciting to play around. The trinket where you have to ST heal someone puts a huge ball over their head. This one could just cover them with void purpleyness possibly.
Season 3 needs a 90 second strength trinket which gives haste or mastery. There is currently only a single 90s str trinket in the entire season and it gives crit rating which is so awful for unholy that we will likely be completely noncompetitive just due to the lack of burst a trinket existing at all.
Alternatively, make crit useful for unholy by having sudden doom interact with it in some way.
To jump onto this, why does the Cursed stone idol have a 1s channel effect.
It’s bad enough that it is the only 90s on use sans the raid option in Unyielding Netherprism. But an annoying 1s channel that kills being able to just macro it to an existing cooldown sucks. Just make it do it’s thing instantly so you’re not fighting with additional keybinds.
I quite like the crit rate on this trinket as it pairs well with warrior burst.
Netherprism isn’t even a viable option to replace a 90s CD str trinket since you can’t use it on the pull with 0 stacks, or maybe you get 1 stack before you want to hit your CDs max.
Yeah, the lack of any on pull viability puts it down a little but pending when the vuln phases are for dimenthius it could be very strong there.
Given that it’s also a spymaster’s web 2.0 that seems to be tagged as an agi/str stat option there would be a lot of competition for it as is. Unless it’s buggy on wowhead and also does int too then that’s even more competition for situational use cases.
I second that the under 50% mana effect can be fun for healers, but I think it should be disabled for damage dealers as already mentioned above it encourages degenerate gameplay such as spec swapping before pull or using high mana cost utility spells to deplete the mana pool.
With Breath of Sindragosa now being solidified as a 1:30 cooldown, I am very concerned that there is only 1 available 1:30 on use trinket in the entire season. Please look into changing one of the available 2 minute trinkets (Preferably Araz’s Ritual Forge) into a 1:30 cooldown. Tons of classes across all Primary Stat uses are now being made into 1:30 timer classes (Sub Rogue, Balance Druid, and Arcane Mage to name a few) and not having reasonable on-use options beyond exactly 1 item in the entire season feels exceptionally bad.
Just to echo several others - where are the 1.5 minute strength trinkets? Feel like we’ve been going through this same song and dance for MANY raid tiers now.
It feels bad to not have a good trinket to align with your cooldown.
The agility/strength trinket Mind-Fracturing Odium seems exceptionally strong. Assuming it’s from delves, even at heroic level it beats all mythic trinkets for some specs.
About two weeks ago, you nerfed an intellect trinket Essence-Hunter’s Eyeglass with a similar effect by 75%. Please take a look at this Mind-Fracturing Odium trinket and tune it properly for agility and strength users.
I am here to report a major bug with Codex of the First Technique, a trinket originating from Shadowlands and returning in 11.2 with Tazavesh.
Equip: Taking damage grants you a chance to unleash the First Technique for 12 sec, reflecting 10% of incoming damage, up to a maximum of 1.7M* damage absorbed per blow.
In Shadowlands this trinket worked as advertised, reflecting 10% (or the cap) of every incoming hit. The cap was only ever applied on a per hit basis.
Currently, this trinket treats the cap as the total amount of damage that can be reflected, period, which is in direct conflict with the tooltip and makes the trinket significantly worse.
