PvP Prot Paladin: The Guide by Gladiator Lumaca

Does it work in 3v3 with double dps?

Any thoughts on consecrated ground and hand of the protector being on the same talent row in sl?

Avenger’s Shield gets Holy Power, still. If we can hit around the same ball park of casting Word of Glory’s to Hand of the Protector’s now, I don’t see much of a change.
I think we drop Seraphim for Divine Purpose anyway, so we’ll likely hit a lot more heals.

I just want to say that thanks to Lumaca and his wonderful guide, I’ve finally achieved 2k rating! Follow his guide folks and you can’t go wrong!

So in 2s Who is your usual kill Target? Healer or DPS? And how do you set up your kill as Prot/DH comp?

Just wanted to pop in and say i got 2100 tonight! It’s been such a blast!

and to reply to you it depends on the dps partner. If i feel like me and my DH can get the kill easier on the dps, then we cc heals and go dps or vice versa.

Awesome guide! Just wondering if there were any tips for running prot in bg’s in a support esque role? Thanks again!

In general you shouldn’t really ever be attacking alone, unless you are defending, or spinning. Prot really shines best when you are keeping an attacking team going. Sac, BoP/Spell, lay of hands, freedom, guardian of ancient queen, light of protector, flash heal, consecration removing snares, short CD stun, Pony knock back, AoE silence, cleanse, all are super helpful keeping offense going.

You actually aren’t a great flag holder because you lose a lot of your utility of immunity.

Basically be a highly disruptive force that supports an attacking team. Think of yourself as a quasi healer/support that can help burst things down or just stop their offensive pressure.

Maps like EoTS you can pony through their mid, get focus fired, guardian yourself and slam into their heals, then bubble, etc. I’ve often taken a few dps chasing me while my team grabs flag.

Just try not to go off by yourself, because even though you are hard to kill, your best utilized as an offensive support.

+1, very nice guide. I too feel that prot paladin captures the true feeling of what a warcraft paladin is.

This is awesome thank you for this information.

Prot should be leading in Damage and Healing and usually KBs in a BG. I got wrecking ball last week something I never got at max level. Went 25-0 as Prot with 22mil dmg and 17 mil healing.

You just stack mastery and more mastery with some option to run gushing over 60% base mastery in BGs since holy shield applies gushing. However I just been using 85% base mastery with mastery food buff. Running at a base globaling the defenders and capping.

Pretty much play Prot as Glad stance was in WoD you are a wrecking ball of dmg, healing and utility.

Definitely disagree if you have Mastery amps and the right traits/trinkets. There have been many bases I solod capped 1v3. You just global the first guy and the other 2 are at 50% from holy shield. It’s not hard after that. As Prot you should solo cap a lot.

I have hit some 160-200k judgements as Prot no debuffs on the enemy in a BG.

I just happened to come across this earlier today and tonight a friend asked me to queue 2s with him on his new lock. I hopped on my Prot Pally and we went 7-3 at 0 CR. The 3 losses were due to me lagging out twice and the other was just good play on the other teams side. We both were kind of shocked how well we did with such an odd comp. We might actually try to push with it after we gear up a little more.

Good stuff in that guide. The Touch of Everlasting tip is almost not fair at all.

I wanted to leave this here as it was perhaps my most impressive Prot Pally feat of strength that happened last night in an RBG against a very good 2200 caster cleave.

My Prot managed to have 48 mil healing in my mastery build was tanking Mages, Boomkin, Lock, Priest and Hunter/Rogue on the cap spot. After the game the other team was blown away and didn’t understand and messaged me asking what is going on you took no dmg.

Fortunately my base block is consistent enough that my healers and myself could rotate CDs even under high pressure. It’s a pretty picture though and a memorable moment for my Prot Pal this expansion. Also did 23 mil damage and most of that was from Holy Shied.

PS - forum bug can’t post on main Prot Pal. No idea how to fix it.

Also want to test a new stat hybrid with Mastery that I think can be very strong. Waiting on silly corruption rotation.

That’s amazing healing there! Your team did a great job! Always good to see another prot pally in the pvp scene! We’re looking pretty good for SL!

@Lumaca could you please give anymore insight into Horde prot pld racials? You seem to rank Zandalari > Tauren, but what about BE and its purge? Thank you, this guide is so so helpful!!

Feel like bumping this thread since I just referenced it in another thread since there seems to be many confused on builds/stats/gearing. Hope that some players with many questions can just be answered by the OP and then discuss future builds in SL that are looking great.

Yea I am sure all the active Prots will still talk about builds and everything in PvP once SL drops. Which is why I bumped it for everyone

Any ideas/theories on our best or first legendary we should be shooting for for this week coming up? Read some guides but they are PvE focused
