PVP on alts is like bashing head against concrete wall

Yeah blizzard is afraid to admit splitting the player base up with factions was a stupid idea.

…they should have made scourge a faction…

Completely agree. You still get some dumbness, like 60’s rolling around, but it’s so much better…

Just to share a personal story. Rolled in as shadow. Rogue opens, 1/2 dead, trinket, disperse, dead. Outplayed!

I know the disperse triggers, because I saw the cool down, it just didn’t matter.

Came here to post something like this. Had leveled this alt on a mix of Battlegrounds and Threads of Fate, and was having fun with BGs until I hit 60. (This toon is indeed 60, no idea why the armory won’t update).

I had enough honor to buy a full set of Aspirant gear, but that wasn’t enough to keep me from being two-shotted by players who I can barely scratch. Not at all fun, and honestly makes me want to give up on PvP.

I remember really enjoying when there was a more level playing ground during Legion with templates. I don’t think we should return to an extreme where gear doesn’t matter, but I do think things need to be normalized a little. Right now gearing up feels like rubbing my face against a cheese grater and pretending it’s fun.

All you can do is not be Venthyr and get your covenant gear upgraded to 197 before pvp’ing.

Or wait for 9.1 and find something else to do until then.

I keep fooling myself thinking this time I am going to gear up my alt no matter what it takes! queue for one game, then log off.

Playing my main can be fun, but unrated BGs are so lopsided because of gear they get dull fast. Last night after not finding an RBG group for 45 min or so, I queue unrated only to beat the other team 1500-0 /yawn and I knew it before the game started because their team’s gear was so low.

Blizzard really need to do some reworking on how the unrated pvp system works. It’s a messy toilet atm.

Actually messy toilet describes most pvp.

Unfortunately, I forgot something. If you turn off XP, you go into a separate que that probably won’t pop. In other words, you are more or less stuck leveling if you want to PVP.

This sucks. Right now I am not running BGs anymore with 60s, I got mashed tonight in two hits over and over. It’s absurd. So my two 60 druids will just work on achievements and other older stuff. I’ll use my alts for PVP, but as soon as they hit 60 they get retired and I switch to another alt.

Shadowlands ruined PVP in BGs.

The gap for Mains that are capped at 200 compared to rated players is equally ridiculous.

What level does the “friend” have to be? And what brackets would you be placed in? The level bracket of your friend? Also, how would your abilities and stuff work?

Gear scaling is very bad. So is the burst from some classes.

As a 226 geared healer you cannot carry bgs like you could in other xpacs. A geared dps can solo carry a 10 man BG, especially when their divine storm can hit for 27k, but Blizzard says its fine lol.

At this point I’ll accept changes won’t happen soon enough. Either reroll or play something else. Class Balance right now is disgusting.

This is pretty true also, like I can do a HECK of a lot to carry in RBGs on my healer, but it’s nothing compared to the enemy team having a couple of 226 dps for whatever reason at 1000-1500 rating that just delete the entire team with their divine toll because everyone is ~200-205 ilvl. The scaling is just a JOKE, if you are skilled enough to hit 1800+ you DEFINITELY don’t need to be like literally 2x stronger than everyone that isn’t as skilled, it’s actually hilarious.

At this point though, the rumor/speculation shamans reading their bones and tea leaves say 9.1 isn’t dropping until June, which is brutal both from a PVP and PVE perspective. Granted June is speculative at best but it’s now March 1 and we don’t even have the 9.05 patch.

June sounds about right.

This is triggering my Cataclysm content drought PTSD.

my favorite thing on my 164 Hunter (hit 60 a few days ago) is getting 1 shot by a boomkin

it’s happened so many times, 1 starsurge brings my hp from 100-0

This is definitely an expansion tough on alts

It’s because the douche bags that have maxed out on their pvp rating are now using their gear they got to basically be a 60 twink and shred the newly leveled 60’s, there will always be people using unfair advantages/glitches to make up for their lack of skill. Kinda like when you see a melee with that broke legendary non stop leaping and win wsg battles cuz of it, when their team shouldn’t, and leaps up the gy to their base. It’s wow, it’s how it’s always been, it’s like blizz likes it that way.

You want to feel better? Roll Alliance and your horde problems feel like first world problems.

The obvious solution is to cap all gear in unrated pvp at the maximum ilvl achievable through unrated pvp. That way casual pvp doesn’t interfere with the gear structure anywhere else, but unrated pvpers can be on an equal footing in their own content. Everyone wins except the nice people who want to use their uber gear to stomp people who can’t fight back - and their feelings aren’t worth consideration. They can do rated pvp if they want to have full power against other players.

I’d also recommend removing factions to help queues and overall balance, but the gear thing definitely needs fixing.

Agree to this completely. Unrated battlegrounds, world PvP and brawls should all have a per-level or per-bracket power cap equal to the max unrated gear available at that level. I actually queued with a friend at 55 into the 50-59 bracket, and felt bad how easily I was killing players with my terrible fresh 60 PvP gear. This would solve the issues in both max-level and leveling BGs.
