yeah, I’ve been reconsidering my sub lately. This xpac kinda missed the mark for me, now with the lack of new content and the lackluster state of PvP, and just seeing the overall lack of effort on Blizzards part, it has me questioning why am I paying $15/month for this? I already dumped Netlix and Disney+ Blizz is toeing that line for me.
If I weren’t taking time off work currently I might not even be playing. With the current state of PvP in general and Blizzards overall either incompetence/or neglect toward this game mode I’ve considered jumping ship too.
DF was going to be my last expansion if they didn’t get their act together but to be honest I love Inner Earth themed stuff so TWW is right up my alley, plus there’s gonna be a new BG and Hero Talents look interesting but I bet there’s gonna be lots of problems. I’ll check TWW out but I doubt we’ll see any major PvP changes after launch and if the narrative team can’t bring some grit into this game, I’m out.
Honestly I think it’s a mix of both. I’m right there with you, gameplay wise the game feels great, systems wise feels great, but the overall vibe just isn’t there. No grit. The dragons are lame, watch the Game of Thrones scene in the Mereen when the dragon Drogon is in the fighting pits, DF needed more of that and less… carebear dragons unite…
Love that scene! I was saying earlier dragons are possibly the most iconic fantasy creature ever and boy did DF miss the mark depicting them. I know WoWs dragons are supposed to be different and I like the way they’re different but these ones aren’t as fierce as the WoW dragons of yesteryear. Except Fyrakk he’s solid.
The Gummy Bears show more grit than the dragons in DF.
Alexstraza had the guts to actually fight a couple times and the Primalists were cool, but outside of that the Gumdrop dragons didn’t do it for me 2/10. Xpac overall get a 7/10 mainly for gameplay reasons, poor PvP oversight and narrative decisions dropped it down. The game is definitely right up someone’s alley I’m sure of that.
It’s weird man because we love WoW, and fantasy stuff, and online gaming. You’d think we’d be the target audience lol I’m not sure who this is for.
I think a retail pvp server would be welcomed by those who choose to join it by their own will
I totally agree, if the shard were linked to other Warmode servers that’d be ideal everyone would win, otherwise the pvp server might pull more players from an already sparse Warmode.
I hear a lot of people all concerned about Faction Imbalance when the subject comes up but if we phased in Warmode on players to account for Faction Imbalance that’d solve the issue.
I’d like to see Blizz increase WM on player count in current content zones by about 30% through sharding adjustments. Theoretically if there was even just 1 server filled to the gills with PvP players tied into the mix it could make Warmode overall feel less empty.
I think the point of a pvp server would be all the pvp players would always be in the same shard/layer
They could add in the faction balance rules like they are using in SoD right now
Well played brother! I was just watching it the other day and thinking maaaan, I wish the Dragons in WoW were dragons not power rangers
Yeah the dragons were innDF have been pathetic honestly can’t wait for it to be over so I can go back to pretending dragons are cool XD
I really wanna like Iridikron since he’s scheming and evil and intelligent but the model for his dragon form looks so freakin cheesy. His visage looks really intimidating but I have no idea how that dragon form made it to launch. Vyrinoth looks cheesy too up on the tower with the rest of them, love the concepts but I just can’t take them seriously lookin like that.
Wish they made some very simple spec talent trees thats for pvp only and balanced for instanced pvp.
A retail pvp server would be nice
Yeah I noticed that too, looks like a cheesy action figure from an obscure line of toys that you’d find at like a Barnes and Noble or something.
That’s an oddly specific way to put it but I agree he does kinda look that way. When is TWW coming out?
The road map suggested it would be out this summer but who’s to say. Since the Beta was just announced I’d wager it’ll drop late summer at the earliest, then again they never ship a finished product so who knows.
Guess we’ve got till this summer then, until the Hero Talents turn PvP into a brown storm
The fact that player-hosted dueling tournaments on Classic gain far more traction than Blizzard-hosted Retail PvP tournaments should be something to learn from.
PvP’s current state is a mixture of bad design with stacking modifiers (which makes it nigh impossible for Blizzard to properly balance abilities due to the insane level of interactions), DF talent system cheesing with picking way more active abilities than the prior system allowed, stacked on top of the mobility and CC creep war.
Unfortunately, most of the current PvP playerbase consists of living examples of the sunk cost fallacy who will outright reject changes that would improve the overall health of Retail PvP because it would threaten their epeen.
