Pvp is hot garbage in sod

Yeah, the HP is pretty crazy, huh?

Faced a team with 3 last night. That was a rough match :frowning:

Wow good for you. You must be very proud. I did not enter a tournament. I sure wish I did. Had I known I would need it later on to prove something insignificant to some random internet stranger I would have cared enough to.

I’m just worried that by 40 they are gonna bring in all the trash defensives like cloak and pain sub, which in my mind are terrible. Giving every class an oops I don’t die when I should ability was super dumb

all you’re doing is trying to delegitimize conversation by saying “hurf durf, vanilla pvp always bad” it’s pointless and wrong.

You asked me for proof so I provided. Don’t backtrack on your failed ad hominem now dude.

Stay on topic or stop wasting your time. This isnt difficult

I think a defensive cd here and there is fine. My problem comes when they start stacking classes with multiple

a few defensives like pain sup might make for interesting O/D meta tbh

I’m an incredibly dedicated PvP player. That’s why I have the opinion I have.

It’s also a relevant fact because SoD had no chance of being anything remotely decent, PvP-wise, even if they were starting from a decent baseline. Too many drastic changes with too little dev attention to make it work. When you throw in the fact that the starting point was already an embarrassment, it’s downright delusional to have thought this was ever going to be anything but an even more imbalanced clusterfork.

You engaged me, dude. I was just here minding my own business.

I always knew it was going to be an absolute mess and I still believe the further along we go the worse it will get.

Certainly will not make for a “highly competitive” environment

However, if we get to 60 and things are still somewhat stable/functional and the abilities are not nuclear, community based competition will still be fun

As long as at 60 i can still get the wargames in and it doesnt feel like 10v10 wrath arenas ill be aight

I predicted disc would be the top PvP healer just based on datamining before SoD released. It was pretty obvious the only defensive magic dispel + absorb class (in a game where people die fast) would be the most powerful PvP healer.

Considering how fast people die most of the time, I don’t feel bad for DPS though. Also there’s a special place in the Shadowlands for Scorpid using hunters.

The only way I’ll have any hope is if they, at minimum, commit to separate balancing via PvP coefficients. That is the only future where the level of resources they have might yield something enjoyable.

I don’t even think it has that much to do with dispel, it’s really the mana cost of penance and Pom for how much healing they do is so out of wack it seems like a typo

Vanilla PvP is the worst form of PvP baseline in the games history anyway. The consumable domination makes it incredibly awful. It got a lot better when they reduced consumable usage in PvP.

SoD is working off a really bad baseline so at best it will just be a lipstick on a pig situation.

I was pretty amazed at how immediately good penance is when you get it at level 2 compared to my first character that started with the useless ice lance. I always loved PoM in PvP since TBC if there are multiple players around. Fun to use and was always one of the most efficient spells.

Not sure why priests got the most efficiency in SoD phase 1 while some like mages are basically the opposite.

Its kinda crazy cause I was watching my boy stream some wsg game the other day vs a good premade and 2 disc priests were able to keep the bear form druid alive by themselves over a warrior, a ret, 2 rogues a feral and a mage. Druid just hard-stuck non shiftable avengers shield

Yah feels like every wsg comes down to who has more dpriests

20-29 level bracket was always unbalanced in classic wow, now it’s just unbalanced in favor of different classes than normal. And in a month and half at 40 it’s going to be unbalanced in other ways.

That’s a bad argument, the runes are what is causing the current imbalance

For example penance heals for 70% of an hp bar and costs next to no mana

signed, guy with no pro level pvp experience in vanilla
if your main gripe is the consumables, then you’re just whining about PvE stuff anyway lol.

Also part of why the game has balance is cuz of consumes and engi

Can’t beat a warlock, equip shadow reflector and pvp trinket, now you can

Not sure why you’d need that much experience to understand why a mode full of free action pots and engineering devices is a sub-par experience compared to other versions of WoW PvP.

Also, real vanilla had less of that because it wasn’t as min-maxed as classic ends up being, so it’s not even an authentic experience.

A lot of classic players complain a lot about homogenization being a bad thing, but the universal use of the same consumables giving you the same extra abilities essentially is a far worse form of that than any expansion ever brought.
