When I step into the arena with the gear I have right now and two melee dps sit on me I live for about 2 or 3 seconds. The only comps I can beat are healer/dps. So I could press overgrowth, barskin, go bear (if I’m not dead by then), then hope that frenzied regen keeps me alive long enough to get away
Yeah in classic once you got what you need you dont have to worry about rolling TF or sockets. You are just done
Edit: fixed spelling
That depends on what class, spec, comp, gear lvl of your team, and your gear lvl.
Yea that’s a good point. Once I get the gear and the season/patch finishes, it’s like coming into the game again as a brand new 100. It’s not like how it was in classic/bc or early wotlk, where when the new patch comes around your gear is still very good
Did it in wrath cata mop wod and legion.
Yeah like recent memory in wod the season to season was only a 10ilvl difference in the pvp gear and the power curve wasn’t horrendous.
When you step into the arena with 200k health and your opponents have 300k health… I mean. That’s like going from beginning of the expansion to the end. In classic that’s like being level 59 and being a fully geared level 60.
No you didn’t.
You where saying, there is no time sink because one can stay competitive with just 2.5 hours a week. Doing one M+10, your PvP and sometimes a Emissary for AP.
I said no to that, not in 2.5 hours.
This here, is something that gets closer to the point i try to make. If you want to be competitive … 4 hours a week won’t work.
*Especially in BfA where so much is gated behind something.
Before you could play WoW even with little time. Just run BGs, maybe some Arena and you could have a ton fun and get rewarded with Gear.
Now just doing that won’t be enough. You need to dip a toe into every aspect, World Quests, Daily Quests, M+, Raid, PvP … and there then BGs, Arena and World PvP.
Well you get these players that play the game 10-16 hours a day. As soon as a new patch comes out they turn on hardcore… and are the first ones to gear up. They are so good they knock the entire mythic raid in a few weeks simultaneously doing arenas. But they do arenas while they have the largest gear advantage which is in those first few weeks. They do like 100 to 200 games, get like a 80% win rate then sit there at the high rating.
People like me don’t get geared until the end of the patch, which is where I meet people of the same gear/rating.
No, that would be Legion in terms of power disparities being minimal, or WOD in terms of BIS PvP gear being available to everyone.
If you are taking directly about gear’s effectiveness in PvP then yeah, Legion was probably the best and maybe slightly better or tied with WoD.
If you are talking about ease of acquiring gear regardless of source, then this expansion hands down throws more free loot at you then any other expansion before it. Plenty of people are capable of getting full 420-430 from a week or two of spamming M+. Do I agree with this method? No. Would I rather have vendors and actual conquest back? Yes. But it doesn’t seem like something Blizzard is currently willing to do. So for now we suck it up and do some PvE, or we don’t PvP at all
Im fine with pvp giving loot as long as you stay in the ilvl equivalent. Suck at pvp, cabt eben hit 1800. Enjoy 415 pieces. Youre 1800 now, heres 430. You hit 2400, heres 445.
But yall woukd cry foul.
Isn’t it already like this? I mean the weekly cache reward depends on your Rating, or do i remember that wrong?
To be honest. I would like it if you can actually gear up using PvP. The like that there is a chance to get gear after a BG, Episode c BG or Arena. Said gear should scale up slowly to 430 … to be on the same level as gear you can get from a M+.
In the weekly PvP cache then 440 should be inside, again to be on par with M+ which is still easier.
Remember, in order to get something from the weekly PvP cache you’d have to fill the conquest bar … in M+ all you need to do is run a M+10.
