Please make killing enemy faction who are “grey” a dishonorable kill. Thank you.
cool story bro
This definitely would not be abused at all.
/s
Could be good so long as this follows some rules.
- Dishonorable kills are only gained if the Higher level player makes the first attack.
- Dishonorable kills are minus -5% total present rank that is instant.
- NPC’s no longer give Dishonorable kills at any point ever.
Honor system update.
- World PVP honor kills BASE Rank1 Award 500 honor with +100 for each rank above Rank1
- Battlegrounds PVP honor kills are cut down to 50 honor for Rank 1 and +10 for each rank above Rank 1.
- PVP honor kill DR’s are reset hourly.
- PVP gear can be upgraded to the maximum item level comparable to PVE maximum item level and this gear upgrade system is truly a grind like the PVP grind + the Dungeon set 2 quest line and drudgery.
- Solo Q only bracket option for all BG’s, this is not the only option but just an option.
Killing enemy players is too easy and honestly cringe. beta behavior.
Killing your own faction by kiting dangerous mobs to your ah is cool. Chad behavior.
Sure, it can be coded the same as “tagging” mobs is.
I dont see any reason to remove the civilian NPC tag. The only way that would be fair for both factions is if Alliance ships now have guards like Horde zeppelins and Alliance Guards at all cities/outposts were raised to the equivalent level and/or elite status as the Hordes in that zone and vice versa.
Unless DKs are cosmetic only, I hate this idea. I don’t go looking for lowbies to grief, but if I saw some gray name picking a ghost mushroom, they’re gonna have to die.
Try killing a booster and one of his carries zones out and gets caught in the crossfire. DK.
Instead of a DK, killing a lowbie could mark you on the map like a bounty in classic. Maybe give a stacking debuff so after you kill a few you basically have rez sickness.
The only way to abuse it would be Mind Control. You can solve that (just like they Cry of the Warchief) by making mind controlled players immune/ineligible to the Honor loss
Just make those npcs immune.
Just make those npcs immune.
Why? Im not saying I disagree but I dont understand why you want this other than to grief.
Any large scale world PvP would be at risk of lowbies running into combat to grief the opposite faction. Such lowbies could straight up be summoned to any spot for this sole purpose. This would just be the mechanical yeti but worse.
Ok, a personal example.
Last year my friend group was leveling characters and opted to do Uldaman. 3 of us were on appropriate level characters and one was healing us with a level 60 shaman.
We were working on the quests that are outside in badlands and inside the caves leading to the instance portal. I was playing as a bear tank and happily swiping and tagging dwarves on the way through the cave. We were clearing fast and zugging, come around a corner, pull all nearby dwarves, and I see dishonorable kill pop up on my screen. Lo and behold, after not going to this place in 5 years I forgot there is a civilian dwarf npc just chilling in caves full of dwarf mobs.
It cost my friend a rank on his shaman. I felt terrible but thankfully it was like rank 7 down to 6 or something and he didn’t care, as he doesn’t play the character anymore. If it had been my other friend’s r13 mage, who he wants to get r14 on, that would have been so much worse.
DKs have always been dumb.
You should have just asked for “War Mode”.
Terrible idea, people will have swarms of greys healing them and CCing trying to stack DKs on people just to be jerks.
Anytime you come up with an idea, always think on how to break it. There are people of unspeakable malevolence who spend all their free time trying to ruin everyone else’s good time.
It is the definition of a dishonorable kill, truth.
This would be so easy to grief people with on a large scale unfortunately. Once some griefer (think a Payo type) finds a hilarious way to abuse this there would be a new “griefing meta”, because streamers.
I’m thinking something more like a Coward Debuff that prevents you from getting honor for 60 minutes when you initiate combat with and kill a player 10 or more levels lower than you. This could get complicated too and someone would have to seriously look at it.
As for NPCs that award DKs I’d just remove all of them, its another avenue to grief people and doesn’t do what it was put in the game for.
We want World PVP in Classic+ and don’t want people afraid to attack major cities or engage in fun.
WoW is built around progressing your character, first overcoming challenges by level and then by gear and consumables.. At least for Vanilla, actual player skill is a very small part of your toolkit, as much as folks might like to believer otherwise.
Dying to high level players is a part of the game, you will be able to hold your ground when you level up. If this isn’t for you do not roll on a PvP server. It’s really that simple. A PvP server is a certain type of experience and this is part of it.
Having said that…
There is appeal in being on a PvP server at 60. This is something I’ve since discovered recently… the leveling and ganking nonsense isn’t for me. I don’t care to harass low level players, nor do I care to get harassed on my way to 60. However, once you’re there, open world PvP can be a lot of fun. It’s not just about killing other players… I’ve been known on my server to turn up to Horde raid nights and just stir up trouble. It’s me against 20+ other players but hey, we all have a good time.
Perhaps a third server type where you can level in peace but once you hit 60 you’re always flagged. It could work, especially because Blizzard is doing the single-server thing these days, so 3 servers instead of 2 wouldn’t be the end of the world.
Or maybe there is merit in exploring iterations on War Mode. The fundamental concept actually makes a lot of sense… opt into PvP when you want to, opt out when you don’t. The problem is that, in retail, Blizzard has done a terrible job. There’s no compelling open-world PvP objectives and so Blizzard has to try to incentivize people to turn it on with XP increases, as well as currency bonuses for the under represented faction.
Another idea… maybe they just chill on the whole concept of PvE → PvP transfers. Maybe you can choose PvP or PvE when you’re leveling and then, at 60, you get a one-time, one-way transfer to the other server where you will be forever.
Lots of options here… but I don’t think punishing players with a dishonourable kill should be one of them. Assuming Classic+ follows suit, it’s a sandbox MMO and this is exactly the kind of restriction that takes away from that kind of game. Some people enjoy the challenge of leveling up while dodging griefers, after all, and that’s valid.
I think the real answer is we need one RP-PVP server for Classic+.
Just make pvp ranked players give more honor and none pvp ranked players give less. I mean, its WARCRAFT, not carebearcraft. =)
I had the same opinion but people fail a 1 button rotation like frost mage.
No joke.
Too true; however, PvP is generally a little more complex as you’ll use a lot more abilities than you will in PvE. At the end of the day most engagements will come down to… who has better gear, who has deeper pockets, or who has their cooldowns up. Even then, when everything is equal, there is a significant amount of RNG that can make or break your fights.
Vanilla WoW was just never intended to be a tightly competitive game. At launch there was no enforcement of team balance and it wasn’t until BGs came out several patches later that you even had that.
Retail leaned into esports heavily and it went down the path of “fairness” and “balance” in PvP. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but in Vanilla, we get brawls… and that’s fun too.
