PvP gearing is bad and not fun (HELP)

They cant give us a pvp stat back because Versatility is the same effect as Resilience + PvP power but working in pve as well, but i would gladly welcome the +15ilvl on pvp gear in pvp content (world/arena/bg/rbgs) Wod pvp gearing Systeme was great.

Sure they could! Remove it from PVE gear and add a third stat to all the PVP gear.

Then it would be resilience/ PVP power.

Or, remove it entirely and give PVP gear two proper secondary stats and an ilvl boost in PVP like in WoD.

4 years later and nothing in his post has been addressed.

PVP in shadowlands going to be a dumpster fire.

No, it honestly seems like the death of pvp for people who only like pvp, (those who refuse to pve for their pvp gear) was purposely designed to get us to unsub.

Just maybe this thread (and ones like it.) was effective. I’m a much happier with the situation now.

Have you played alts?

I have to start by saying gearing for players who strictly pvp is definitely better in SL compared to BFA. However, gearing in BFA was so horrid that just because this system is an improvement does not make it ideal or even satisfactory.

My main complaint is that higher rating = access to higher ilvl. Some might argue that giving the highest ilvl pvp gear to anyone who simply participates in pvp is not fair since pve players have to put in more work for their highest ilvl rewards. I can agree with this sentiment. However, we had the solution to this with the WoD pvp gear. Whenever you enter instanced pvp your pvp gear would automatically increase 30 ilvl. This meant that pvp gear was BiS in pvp but did not impact pve negatively. Then blizzard decided to change something that wasn’t broken… and now with the Stoopz/Kaleiki interview we have some insight as to why.

They deleted the perfect pvp gearing system because… they didn’t like that it wasn’t seemless? Are you kidding me? So you ruin the game for a whole segment of the population because of your OCD?

I didn’t take time off work or neglect my family/social life when the expac released and am now behind a bit (206 ilvl)

Fighting people 10-15 ilvl higher than me to unlock the next pvp gear upgrades is not fair. Just like back in TBC fighting a full T2 weapon team when your team has T1 weapons was not fair.

I’m not saying it’s impossible but I just wish we could go back to the WoD gearing system. It was so great to be able to play the aspect of the game I wanted and not be punished for ignoring the parts I did not want to play.

It was also great to be able to gear an alt in a weekend to a competitive level.

I get that you want to boost your play time metrics, and that your bosses won’t allocate any resources into pvp balance. But to quote Stoopz, “your garden grows where you water it.”

Maybe the pvp community is such a small portion of the whole player base because you’ve neglected it for over a decade. Maybe if you put some effort ($) into pvp balancing, you would see more people coming back and more importantly more people sticking around.

Is it better to push 10 players away just to keep 1 player busy on your hamster wheel (daily/weekly chores).

TLDR; gearing has improved but give WoD gearing back please

gear should not be an award for getting rating…it creates bottlenecks and gives some an incentive not to que…give all pvpers the opportunity to get 226 gear…and devise another incentive for rating

They used to have amazing tabards and enchants to strive for. I heard the tabard looks like an elementary school student designed it…

Also, getting 2.1 is much more difficult than raiding idc what anyone says

gear issues also hide some of the other problems for balancing…if everyone was on the same level gear wise…it should be easier to balance out the other issues

In the current meta, yeah I’d agree depending on what you’re playing. However raiding also requires organizing coordinating 20 people for mythic, whereas arena is 2-3. It’s a lot less effort in that sense, even if it is difficult to achieve the rating.

Yea I’ve heard that excuse before. So 20 mall cops chasing teenage shop lifters around should get more compensation than 3 marines taking out a high profile target?

Or 20 nurses compared to 3 brain surgeons?

I just don’t agree with that argument

I wasn’t talking about compensation. I think that m+/mythic raiding and PvP should all be equally rewarding, just balanced properly is all. Top PvP gear should be for hitting Glad and scaled down from there, just as top PvE gear is from mythic raiding. The same should be done for mythic+, but the system needs to change so the loot isn’t infinitely farmable each week unlike the other two endgame contents.

I do agree though that you shouldn’t have to play the content you don’t enjoy just to be viable in what you do enjoy. (Outside of the levelling process of course). I’m experiencing it on the other end this time round where I’m not interested in PvPing due to how (overly) fast-paced this meta feels, but the gear is faster to acquire and is actually better optimized for my raiding toon than anything found in raid.

Progressing through rating is not like progressing through pve content though. The stats of the pve mobs is static so you can just grind the easier content to prep you for the harder content. It doesn’t work that way in pvp. If you no lifed the game week 1 then you never fought anyone higher ilvl than you in pvp, and may never have to. If you didn’t then you fell behind the gear curve.

To reiterate I’m not saying it’s impossible but it’s just not a level playing field.

looks like its time to revive this thread as gearing still doesn’t feel great in shadowlands.

If I had same level of awareness I currently have during BfA I would most likely quit the game with such a gearing system, lol. What a clown gearing system it was, insult to PvP players. Luckily BfA is when I started arena and didn’t have a real opinion related to good and bad gearing systems.

It might have some flaws to fix but it feels great for me personally, I am on top of food chain after all. I would love them to increase vault reward of PvP chests for example.

Combatant iLvL 207 right, if someone fills their vault honor that week, they must get 213 from weekly chest not 207 again. This will despite being slow will help with catching up and closing the gap with higher brackets.

There are simple fixes like this that can be made like the one above instead of turning PvP gearing to trash like you want.

“Gimme 1 honor gear 200 iLvL and 210 conquest = fixed”. Surreal suggestions.

First time seeing this Venruki thread btw, thanks to him about this one.

 :face_with_monocle: 2017???
