Scale ilvl in instanced PVP

TLDR - scale all ilvls in lower bracket and level 60 instanced pvp.

Please blizzard, scale EVERYONE to a set item level and continue the acquisition and progression of gear like you currently have.
A lot of the complaints have been so far the unfairness of entering PVP either through BGs or Arenas due to the other player/s having stronger gear.

I have a suggestion to throw your way for consideration.

Scale everyone to the same ilvl in all forms of instanced PVP.
Random BGs
Epic BGs
Skirmishes
Brawls
Arenas
RBGs

You currenlty have a system while levelling, all player’s levels are scaled to to the highest level for that bracket.
50 - 59
40 - 49
30 - 39
etc

The idea is to scale all ilvls of instanced PVP.
50 - 59 scaled to ilvl 80
40 - 49 scaled to ilvl 60
30 - 39 scaled to ilvl 50
etc
This will or may destroy some of the twinking or min/maxing for some players but for the majority of players who are levelling through and just want to have fun instead of being vaporised by a ret pally who has crazy stats and can one-shot 5-8 players without breaking a sweat, who will probably run to the forums and declare cancellation unless Blizzard change it back so that their time and effort is not gone to waste for the sake of fun of the many.

For level 60, scale everyone to the highest achievable upgrade ilvl for non rated instanced PVP.
curently 9.2 season 3 - e.g Rank 7/7 honor = 259 (in pvp)
EVERYONE is set to 259 ilvl, their secondaries (vers, mastery, crit, haste along with bonus secondaries, leech, avoidance) will scale accordingly. This will allow for customisation, but will only work on that current expansion’s gear, in this case shadowlands gear. Bringing in BFA gear will not scale, Legion gear will not scale. Has to be that current expansion’s gear. This will allow players to get a mish mash of level ilvl 100 gear that has vers and haste and will be upscaled to ilvl 259. Maybe they found some interesting pieces along the way with things like speed and wanted to put together a frankenstein set of speed for BGs or skirmishes, the primary, secondary and bonus stats will upscale accordingly. The Auction House will be buzzing with players perhaps wanting to buy cheap gear with specific secondary stats for their specific custom build. This will give some life to the current stagnation of green crafted gear, as those seem to have just gone to the wayside.
Note: might have to disable or heavily scale down some raid acquired gear with strong effects to bring the fairness levels back in line.

Players will still accumulate honor through non rated instanced PVP as usual.
Players will use their honor to buy honor gear and upgrade for use outside of non rated instanced PVP.
So you still have your ranks IF you want to do world quests or campaign story. OR just BGs all day! Fair BGs (and skirmishes  )

With Warmode deactivated, gear will be the standard ilvl of said honor gear. With warmode activated, the item level will boost to the appropriate pvp ilvl based on the upgrade rank.

Rate instanced PVP - Scale those too!
Similar to the honor scaling concept, scale everyone’s ilvl to the highest for that season. Currently 9.2, season 3 ilvl 285.
Scale the secondaries and bonus stats.
Again note: diable or heavily scale down raid acquired gear with strong effects.

Acquire conquest to purchase conquest gear and PVP ranking to upgrade; unranked, combatant, challenger, etc.
Again, similar to honor gear, conquest gear will outshine any honor geared or mythic geared player in warmode. Outside of that, not so much…

But at least you have made some progress and you have something to show for it.

Devs can tweak the scaling of primary, secondary, bonus or effects if everything is set to specific ilvls to help with balancing.

The purpose is to have some form of fair game during instanced PVP and still have gear for players who want to step outside of instanced PVP.

Anyone wanting to ask why not do this for raids or mythic plus too?
That’s a whole different ball game, my friends. You wouldn’t want to scale the highly geared tank or dps if you want a fast and easy run. Or maybe you do? maybe you want a well paced dungeon or raid instead of the gogogo mentality.
But I do recall some form of scaling in dungeons, MOP time trials???
Though this is not for dungeoneers, this is for PVP and the vast amount of complaints we see in the forums and also in game, so maybe come up with some thoughts and bring those ideas to the dungeons and raids section of the wow forums.

I’ll keep this bookmarked so I can discuss/reply.

edit: added a few words as they were missed out… how shameful :frowning:
edit2: updated title

nobody is “scaled” under 60 to the max level of a bracket. it’s misleading because you see the x9 number by your name but it’s just a bit of stamina. look at your gear in/out of the bg. its exactly the same not scaled up.
alot of typing from someone without a clue.

I’m against scaling as character progression in pvp really does feel great.

In rated pvp I have three gear sets and legendaries on toons depending on who I go against on my elemental sham. Scaling works for classes that only need to go one spec/secondary always like fire mage haste stacking with disciplinary command.

All they need to do is make a base honor gear higher I level closer to the conquest pvp gear.

I might have to do a bit of clarification in there but my suggestion is to scale ilvl for players below 60 so that all players are scaled in level to x9 and the suggestion of scaling the ilvl up to whatever number best suits for that bracket.
This will allow players who are levelling or maybe want to only level through pvp, to be on equal footing with every other player in instanced pvp.

So hopefully this clarification redeems me of not having a clue. Hopefully.

Edit: also, great name and character setup!

I hope you do reconsider scaling just for the purpose of instanced PVP. You still acquire gear in terms of progression, it’s just not effective in instanced pvp.
Outside of instanced PVP, yes, especially in Warmode.

Scaling ilvl is what I’m suggesting. If the end game is for all players to reach, let’s say ilvl 289 from conquest gear, why not just give that ilvl to ALL players and there is no need to farm gear FOR the purpose of instanced PVP.
Everyone plays on equal footing and like I mentioned in my post, players can acquire cheapish gear to customise their build as the secondaries would scale up (or down).
If mages hit too hard, the devs could tune down the haste for instanced pvp but they would be wrecking balls with their proper gear in warmode.

And I am in awe of your well earned gear. Well done.

players who only level through pvp arent playing other aspects of game. not crafting gear. not running dungeons. not grinding out professions conducive to pvp(engi alc says hi). so you feel players giving the least amount of effort should be equal on the battlefield?

no thanks.

Please yes. Get rid of this rating tied to gear advantage crap - aka whatever casual spends more money on tokens gets an advantage. Please, friggin make random battlegrounds equal ilvl at the VERY LEAST.

For the sake of fun, yes, absolutely yes!

This is instanced pvp, we’re talking about. I don’t see how this will deter other players who will be placed on equal footing with the rest.

Tanks and healers take advantage of the quick queus and sit in the city without doing any movement all while leveling through dungeons.

Might I ask what would be the problem with everyone being on equal footing in instanced pvp? What aspect would that take away from the playerbase?

No, keep the rating there. I mentioned that in my post. There is no gear advantage if you join instanced pvp. Everyone has the same ilvl.
But gear for use outside of instanced pvp is where the progression comes from.

Edit: just to kinda elaborate on my reasoning for “no” response. Re-reading it kinda comes off as rude…
I think there still needs to be some kind of gating. This will prevent players from just griding out arenas or rbgs win or lose and get powerful gear. To get the best you need to rank up for the best, which goes back to the whole progression. Similar to Raiding, you still need some kind of progression to take on tougher bosses.

So long as I can finally jump back in to random battlegrounds with equal ilvl I will be happy.

These advantage lords don’t remember the instant-7sec random bg queue times in WoD? How about the 7min++ random battleground queue times this expansion? It’s clear what we need, the players just aren’t subbed anymore to fight for it.

Hell, just look at these PvP forums…last post 4-5 hours ago for nearly every thread except the first 1-4…and even the first 1-4 threads get only 1 or 2 posts before going cold again for 4-5 hours. This forum used to be as ablazed as GD (crying about class balance, but it was ALIVE)

That’s what I’m hoping for too. A non-grindy aspect of the game where players can join an instanced pvp like BGs, get angry at their own gameplay or others for fighting on the road and not capturing the tower that was just take by the opposing team, instead of flocking to the forums and saying gear difference is making this un-fun.

Well, with the soon to be cross faction gameplay, we might see shorter queus and if something like this suggestion gets implemented, we could expect (hopefully) more players engaging.

giving everyone a template has been tried and it was changed. i want to build a toon not play one with stats blizz feels i need. stop advocating for people to be complacent.

92 ilvl at level 52? ouch.

If I could perhaps paint the following picture.
You’re level 51 and I’m level 52. If we both join BGs, our levels, as per the current function will go to level 59, which I concur with you, it only boosts our stam.
My current ilvl is 92 and yours is 54. On paper I have the advantage.

You haven’t called out the fact that both our player levels get scaled to 59, yet you want to call out blizz on controlling your stats.

I’m suggesting both our ilvls get scaled to something like ilvl 90 as an example. Your current gear gets scaled up with the secondaries (edit) scales to ilvl 90, mine would go down to 90, so it’s not a template like before, you still get to customise and build the way you want. Like I mentioned in my post, you can opt to find gear with more haste or mastery for your specific playstyle and that gets scaled to ilvl 90 when entering an instanced pvp and our player levels go to 59.

So your concern is not having the flexibility to customise or build to your liking. My suggestion “hopefully” alleviates that concern.

Might I also ask what other things or aspects that you think would be BAD for the playerbase and gameplay or playstyles?

Also, I appreciate your criticism and engagement. Thank you.

Let’s take your sunsoul pendant as an example.
ilvl 68 32 mastery 34 crit and 17 stam
if that got scaled up to ilvl 90, as an example, the stats would scale accordingly
ilvl 90 40 mastery 48 crit and 25 stam

if you wanted a heavy master build, you find an
ilvl 50 with 40 mastery 13 haste and 9 stam
scaled up to ilvl 90
that would be 60 mastery 30 haste and 25 stam.

these numbers are arbitrary but I hope I’m getting my point across about the customisation when entering instanced pvp.

i suggest you gear your toons for pvp. i use this toon as an anchor for my 60’s to kill players like yourself. want to see how i actually gear while i level?
here you go.

Very nice my guy! :+1:

I just hope you’re not missing the point of using your current character to get my idea across.

you think i need to get nurfed so pvp leveling is more enjoyable for you and at the same time buff your stats to “compete” with someone whos done more actual work on their toon.
no thanks.

How about we buff your stats along with everyone else’s?
Your toon is ilvl 139, let’s buff your toon and the rest of the players in the instance to ilvl 150? You don’t get nurfed, you get buffed and stronk!
Yes please.

what a great idea for lazy players.
