PvP gear in 9.2

Pretty sure paid lvl boosts are having a bigger impact on fotm rerolls than gear.

Hey Bluster! Can you consider bumping the community council post on PvP gear? Tbh, I’ve lost hope with blizz. My sub is almost up and I haven’t played in months. But like an idiot, I keep trying to get through to them.

The number one issue that is causing people to leave PvP, and in many cases, the game, is this horrible gearing system coupled with Blizz’s utter disrespect for our time and feedback. We have been asking for something very simple: 1 honor set and 1 conquest set without upgrades and rating gates.

Blizzard started that council under the lie that they would have a more direct and ongoing discussion with us. Unsurprisingly they have barely responded at all. Please keep that gearing post at the top for those of us who do not have a voice at all because of blizzard’s incompetence in business practices towards their own paying customers.

The council is just smoke and mirrors to give us the illusion they give a damn

Well you fit right in then don’t you

Honestly the only people I see defending this current design are those who directly benefit from it.

This system has been around for one year in WoW’s 17 year lifespan. They learned not to tie rating to player power back in Wrath and they had a consistent design choice in terms of gear for PVP all the way up until Legion, when we had templates and PVP gear was handed out at random or from PVP world quests.

The worst thing about prior systems, where we had two sets and gained more Conquest from casual PVP (though not as quickly as from rated, as it should be) were the bots. But even with the bots, PVP was healthier than it is now.

Fear of bots is an outdated excuse for not applying anything that promotes the population imho.
Billions of dollars are flying around, they could literally buy out the third party companies just to obtain the software. And still profit.
Detection software is available either way.

And hey, if viable PVP gear could also be obtained through other means than actual PVP this wouldn’t be a bad thing. Population wise etc.
Players with these sets in their bags are more likely to queue up.

Please review my suggestion and welcome feedback and criticism.

Hate me all you want gearing was a joke from 9.1.5 on. It’s been super fun to play a bunch of toons and get them 259 in a couple weeks. It was a slug by the end of it but wow encourages you to invest time into 1 or 2 mains and having like 2-3 Alts max.

For people with 20 plus toons I’d have to imagine you can’t keep up and hopefully to take some time to do something outside the game.

The game is casual these days and pvp has offered the best way to gear up for pvp so I’ll take that any day over having to pve and pvp to gear up.

Hi, please see my suggestion and would appreciate any feedback or criticism if you could.

Seems that way.

I have a main of the same class on both horde and alliance. I began doing that in vanilla on Emerald Dream when you had to have separate accounts to play open world PvP on both sides. When they allowed it I merged all my characters onto one account.

I also have alts of the same classes on both sides but they don’t get as much play time as my druids. I WOULD though if they’d dial back the grind. I’d definitely play all my alts and make more if we could just straight gear them like in the old days. No borrowed power systems, no ranking systems. Just gear.

Well, they’ve made a system in which you can’t play alts because of how prohibitively expensive legendaries are (they cost tens of thousands of gold, LOL wtf? pay 2 win much, with a token system?), but also you can’t progress without being forced to do content you might not want to do.

So I love PvP, but I never do rated. I just do casuals. Been doing it this way since BGs and rated were introduced. Always preffered world PvP, but when that died I just stuck to casual BGs. In some expansions this was fine to get geared and keep progressing, but usually PvE gear is ridiculously stronger than PvP gear.

Then they killed the PvP vendors and for years we had all sorts of dumb systems.

Finally the PvP vendors are back. Praise Aman. But now they have ranks? Okay. That’s fine. I even enjoy ranking up my honour gear. I think that’s pretty fun.

But now I’m stuck. I don’t really care about PvE beyond story (and that is gone), PvE puts me to sleep and the toxicity of rated puts me off. I just stick to BGs and world PvP because that’s what I enjoyed. That’s what sold me on the game. That’s even what was marketed towards me a long time ago when I initially paid for this game.

… But now my characters can’t progress. I’m stuck at ilvl 249(262 pvp), and I can’t just play alts because I can’t keep shelling out 60k+ for leggos, and they are absolutely NECESSARY for PvP.

So what do I do? Just wait for weekly conq cap to raise? Am I expected to pay money for a game I can play once a day every week, unless I want to do a bunch of crap I didn’t used to have to do?

Lame, Blizzard. Very lame. Seems you continue to learn nothing from your mistakes.
We already had this system before BTW, and it was a massive failure. Guess you’ve run out of more than just good ideas. You’ve even run out of bad ideas and are re-using old ones.

What happens to all those suggestions we submit? What happens to the feedback from test states? Obviously no one is reading them, or if they are, failing to understand.

Things just keep getting worse and worse.

Blizzard. Do you need help? Do you want me to do it for you? I will drive for you, just give me the keys. You’re clearly incapable. Years and expansions in a row of failure after repeated failure have proven that.

This is a less than minority opinion, this is the lunatic fringe of the minority opinion. How you could even type that is beyond me.

i like ranks to upgrade gear the issue is to many ranks and to much ilvl difference between them.

Good post I totally agree.

Wod gearing but without the Ashran mode of acquiring it in just a few days.

ilvl difference wasn’t ridiculous but enough to be of value.

All this type of system does is discourage those that don’t enjoy the rated scene but it also discourages those that join the season later or have alts. It becomes a horrible uphill battle.

It’s really not that freaking complicated. Blizzard had the right idea nearly a decade ago. But here we are…

i dont mind the ranks it gives me something to work for the real problem is there just to many ranks and to much of an ilvl gap between max honor and arena gear.

id like to see 4-5 ranks 2 ilvls apart for honor gear and arena gear not 32 ilvls apart…lol.

I believe this is the underlying rationale behind the system now. Rather than think out a system that may see attrition due to fewer “goals” They keep the multi-tier carrot out in front of us. What they did not count on is abuse and burnout.

Lol. 100% “I think a lot of people do this as well. They just want to gear up characters to never play them. That’s fine, that is their choice but I don’t want my experience ruined so someone can not play 12 classes but gear them all.” … a game should not be ruined by the people who don’t even want to play the game… People should be gearing to play NOT playing to gear. @Tbcisgoodlol, why do people like you even play the game? You just enjoy doing chores that give you a sense of accomplishment and progression, but don’t actually enjoy playing the game, which is what you’re supposed to be doing after having the gear… The gearing system should not be designed around you people who are here to do chores and not to have fun playing. But here we are, the people who want to have fun playing can’t because Blizzard wants to please the people who enjoy doing chores, so more endless chores for everyone so that doing chores is the game and so that it takes forever to get to the end or perhaps even unreachable if behind/have alts where you just can’t climb the huge wall and now cannot have the fun if you ACTUALLY WANTED TO PLAY… thus game ruined. Gratz Blizzard and Tbcisgoodlol, you’ve ruined the game, sucking all the possible fun away from people who want to have fun playing the game to replace it with this now World of Chorecraft game, designed for people who just want to do endless chores and not even play to have fun. Not to mention the terrible system of having rating tied to gear progression. Yikes. Manage to finally do all the chores? now have fun attempting to get higher rating having up to %50 less stats than your opponents. Did a great job on making the game unplayable AND not fun.

Took me less than a week playing a couple of hours at night to get a fully upgraded set of honor gear + 2 pieces of conquest gear - hardly seems much of a grind.
Also, back in the old days, when we had PvP vendors, but no ranks, each piece took a lot more honor to get, resulting is a long grind with no PvP gear. At least with the ranks, you can quickly get the gear, then constantly improve as you upgrade it.
