Nope gear def matters at 110-119 its not that certain classes are op or "shine " its because the twinks at those brackets it gets really wild , its a whole diff playing field then lower brackets .
I know i was agreeing that the 110 + bracket is diff then the lowbie bracket but even then "some classes shine " because of the cheesed stats they twink with at those lower levels that max levels cant use like certain enchants etc. Esp in the 19 bracket surv hunters and warr dear lord but that bracket has always had problems. Same with lower brackets just now its more cheesed without legion templates getting in the way making things even .
Either way, 10 BGs - 7 levels, and not 1 was a GY camp. It’s also not hard to level out of a bracket. 110+ sounds like it has it’s own issues because current xpac and azerite gear/power being a thing.
A solid Legion Twink had 25%+ more stats compared to the average leveler.
In the brackets where it really counts, this ilvl was obtained from an event that was unobtainable later on. Titanforged Gods.
There was no option of catching up, ever.
Twinks were still there, most just didn’t think that they existed.
Indeed, this 101 warrior was nearly invincible just after a little bit of time in battle(actually getting the gear(high cost at the time) and the artifact power took a long time)(was worth little though after legion heh) and his health got a little bit lower as protection. With a 14% stat increase over a lot of players combined with the traits of my artifact along with my specific set up I could seldom almost and actually solo arena queues(people were of course wondering how I did that most didn’t even know what a twink was) even in bgs it would take 4-5 people to make me need to retreat and thats if they only knew what they were doing. I couldnt do massive damage but it was hard hits on a slow global cooldown so it would take all but people who could heal down eventually. my 99 druid could easily solo all the WoD dungeons(pretty sure even after they buffed it) making sure the group was invincible even with the high damage. i didn’t put as much time into my druid so it was not as strong in 99 pvp but my 101 warrior was first in 99s and he was even a bit stronger than 101 since most people didnt have their artifact. Twinks were certainly there and much stronger than they are now. Both of those characters are not anywhere near that level of power now.
What universe are you living in? Just had my heirloomed balance druid lowbie wrecked in a couple hits by a twink warrior. No possibility of escape, time to heal, or anything. Just: charge, followup hit, dead.
Lower brackets didn’t get more than 2 or 3 stat points from templates, even with full unobtainable invasion gear. The only power gain was from using a wand (a ~6% gain), or slower weapons.
Twinks still definitely had a similar effect on games then. There were plenty of full SV hunter/Disc/Warrior groups running, the power from group queues and fotm classes is what made games imbalanced.
Low level warriors do a lot of damage and the crusader enchant doesn’t scale down for some reason - you get a 100 strength proc starting at level 1. The point of comparison would be how quickly you die to a non-twink warrior that has full heirlooms, no empty gear slots and crusader.
On the subject of socketed pvp sets 70+ you can buy pure stat gems +4 agi str intellect form a vendor in thrallmar and honourhold. They are super cheap. They have 1 less primary stat then cata gems but lack a secondary like crit.
This can be useful regardless of pvping while lvling in case you pick up a socket piece while doing dungeons/quests.
true but my post was more aimed at people who might not have marks, I am not sure if you can buy the 70 pvp sets for gold like you can with wotlk sets.
Either way if you have the marks for the pvp gems from sw/org get those over the thallmar/honourhold ones.
I’ve posted something similar in a different post.
Back when xp off and on were separate, we had ppl collect BiS gear and these are usually ppl grouped together and queue for WSG. They will just pick up the flag and camp the xp on gy. They will camp there for the full duration of the match and end in a tie. When they level out of the x9. They just repeat the process.
People don’t want to hear that it’s a git gud issue. I’ve only queued solo on this and several other twinks I originally geared for pve. I look at our team every time. I look at their ilvls, and if an end-of-bracket toon has a high ilvl, I look at their gear and/or honor level to find out what kind of pvper they are.
Twinks are actually rare. I rarely see them in the bgs I run, except in the unhappy situation where I am against a premade, and the happy one where I find myself in one. My estimate is <10%.
I don’t guess. I armory some of the most OP players, and…they’re not twinks.
People want fast, easy leveling, and they want it now. They want lower level bgs turned into a risk-free playground for leveling their alts.
The problem is premades. What they need to do is balance premades. When one side has a 4-5 man premade in it, the other one gets one too.
