PvP etiquette

Hey all, new player here who came for the PvP. Came from games like BDO where usually people would ask to duel for a spot before engaging unless they were on a pvp server. Is there anything like that in this game I should be aware of? Or does the PvP mode just constitute a kill on sight.

Yes, it’s kill on sight and anything goes in wpvp. You can roll an entire raid group on 1 person if you want :joy:

If they have warmode enabled, they have already given consent.

Since you’re new to PvP I would highly suggest getting to max level then doing random bgs until you get all of your honor gear.

Once you do that, head out front of orgrimmar and duel everyone who will accept.

Out of every mmo I’ve ever played, wow pvp is hands down the best.

I think PeeWeePee applies the simple rule of P4wn to all content…

No one pvps until they can call on 5 to 1 odds in their favor as a minimum usually.

WoW pvp is geared premades crushing new player except for premade rated battlegrounds ironically.

There’s places you can duel in sanctuary AKA neutral cities, usually.

Out in the world, though, anything goes. Sometimes you and the other party have a mutual understanding and just stay out of each other’s way, sometimes people are out for blood with you on the menu.

There’s also organized PvP in the way of Battlegrounds and Arenas, where your goal is very much to beat anyone you’re up against.

The rule around here is: If it’s red, it’s dead. That’s how it’s always been, no etiquette.

Wow is a PvE game. PvP is just there so Activision doesnt lose subs to actual pvp games.

Wait what ? Pvp was in game since 2004 before activision lol

There really isn’t much PvP etiquette in WoW, if any lol.

“If it’s red, it’s dead.”

Maybe graveyard camping or corpse camping is a step too far, but people do it and it’s not against the in-game rules.

If you want to go after someone in warmode who is fishing in a corner, that’s on you. If you want to camp lowbies, that’s also allowed. You might get a lot of angry whispers from alts if you do that though.

In the open world, unless you are part of a pvp community it’s usually just a free for all.

In the major cities, usually just outside the pvp vendor area people are duelling one another. You can just walk up to people and challenge them.

And Quake was released in the 90’s.

Cant have people playing other games after all. Thats the WoW way.

Lol I keep coming back for the WoW PvP, especially epic battlegrounds.

There’s not a single game out there, that plays similarly to WoW’s PvP.

It’s unique, and I play a ton of other PvP games too like League and Marvel Rivals and stuff.

Except for…you know…every single other mmo that’s had pvp.

Those don’t play the same, aren’t as reactive and crisp.

FF14 has delays in combat you have to get used to, GW2 is fun but not as massive, SWTOR PvP was just kinda bad, and so-forth.

WoW’s PvP is easily the best. That’s why it’s the most ‘alive’.

Black Desert and GW2 pvp are 1000x more reactive due to the fact that they’re action based.

Good try though.

They’re**

That’s cool, but I’m not gonna play those games, because I like WoW’s PvP more lol.

Surprised I’m even hearing about Black Desert, isn’t that game P2W?

I stopped doing PVP back in wrath because it didn’t feel like PVP anymore. Now when I want real PVP I go elsewhere like overwatch two or Marvel rivals. getting stun locked and rooted for 30 seconds straight, jumped by 3 players, and dying to it is not fun for me.

This. Go to the battleground forums and see the premades using addons which affects the gameplay of thousands of users. I don’t do epics anymore, everytime I do they use their addon and scurry away while we are left with 8 people vs 40.

Most newcomers have stopped coming due to the premades playing in the beginner unrated categories due to lack of skill lmao. They like to stomp on newbies. Venruki recently made a video outlying the lengths people will go to to have a good win ratio in non rated content lmao. It’s pathetic.

My advice is to not expect to have fair fights. That’s the etiquette. People won’t touch you unless they have an advantage over you. Most people suck 1v1.

I don’t kill on sight but most players will play by the “if it’s red it’s dead” mindset.
