PVP and Racial abilities

So that question comes down to how useful it is based on gearing. The value of 1% hit is 15.8 rating for melee and 12.6 rating for casters, so most people end up considering it a net wash because you’re not really able to gear around it effectively for much of an increase. But I definitely would say it’s at least got value. So does expertise for weapons.

If you’re doing bad in PvP and blaming the racials, you should probably do a self check. This game thrives around gear and your ability to be one step ahead of your opponent. In group situations (such as battlegrounds) the losing team (pushing gear to the side) is generally teams who are spread out and have team members who believe they’re a 1 man army.

One time in arena it was down to me and a gnome mage and we were both at 5% He blinked away and iceblocked to break my dots and I used cannibalize on the corpse of his partner to regain health. Then when he broke iceblock early to try and stop me I death coiled him and we won the match. He made a horde toon and sent me a tell saying “I hate you”, I told my mom and she made macaroni that night.

“Draenai:
VERY USEFUL - Gift of the Naaru (Active) – Heals the target 50 + 15/Level over 15 sec – 40 yd range – 1.5 sec cast – 3 min cooldown.”

Bro… This is one of the most USELESS racials… And you lead with it!!! LOL

Gift of the naruu is uessless and perception is semi useful. Rogues can avoid perception in arena, happens all the time. Perception is ONLY used against rogues and druids. Jorde rogues tend to be orc for stun resist. So while it does help. It’s not an immediate win. Humans we’re given perception to help against orc rogues… putting it as VERY USEFUL, is basically saying it’s as usefull as; [Hardiness]: Duration of Stun effects reduced by an additional 15%. which it isn’t.

Consider what I said about perception v hardiness and consider weather gift of the naruu is even comparable… ITS NOT AT ALL. but you have it in very useful.
Shadowmeld is only semi-useful as it can only be used out of combat and without dots. It’s a very very situational ability.

And
inspiring presence is semi-useful / useless.

So the real numbers for alliance are

3 VERY USEFUL
9/10 SEMI USEFUL
9/10 USELESS

Pretty sure gnome racial>wotf. Less cd, every class has a root ability. More impactful.

Perception might only effect particular cases but those cases are extremely obstructed and impacted by the use of it. No other instance is effected so horrendously as perception in pvp, hence why it is one of the only racials to be completely revamped in wotlk.

But yeah, otherwise horde racials are better (I guess), congrats.

Perception is the single best win-condition arena racial in the game. Dont comment if you dont know anything about arena.

@Qbert Yeah I doubt horde hardiness even works. Neither does will of the forsaken + cannibalisms. Rogue or warrior (classes without heals) going behind LoS and healing 70% hp isn’t useful at all ehh? : /

@Skullsoup ever heard of hardiness? complaining your (horde) rogues can’t play because a 3 minute CD that they can avoid while our (alliance) rogues can’t stun orcs half the time is dumb.
Rogues already have one of if not the best skill tree for pvp in tbc so having racials on both sides to calm them down is perfect. Saying otherwise is just dumb imo.

You have a problem with racials not allowing a class to completely dominate pvp overall and thats on you.

“Pretty sure gnome racial>wotf. Less cd, every class has a root ability. More impactful.”

They are on par with each other. Depending on arena comp, either way both racials can swing the balance.

Look at the races overall though, you point out two races but only point out 1 of each pvp racial. The undead also have cannibalism which allows the player to heal 70% over 10s. Which on rogues and warriors (class with no heals or dot mitigating mechanics) is just crazy good let alone any other class.

Again with the not knowing what you’re talking about.

Cannibalize is 35% over 10s

Just need to watch more high end pvp guys. Let’s see who’s streaming some high rated arenas.

What?!? Almost every top rated tbc arena streamer is an undead on horde? But I thought alliance racials were best. Maybe it’s just streamers go horde let’s look at the leaderboards.

What?!? Over 60% of arena teams on the leaderboard are horde and undead is the most played race by far.

It probably has, but its also been resisted more than wotf has been cast.

You counted Arcane Torrent twice for casters and then rouges, so really only 7 useful from 8. Also, Alliance racials are better for Arena, horde better for solo open world play.

They are not all horde andddd even if they were it would be some wanted the racials and the rest wanted the PvP population. Most are there because that’s where the PvP crowd are.

Hydra said during and after the tbc tournament that dwarf was the best priest race at the moment. That alone would be enough for RMP. I think bean has also said dwarf for hunters, rogues will be undead but not for this burst season where opener is so important. Perception for that.

There’s a lot of reasons the highest players picked horde or not, but the majority follow once it’s been decided that’s the PvP side to allow for easier time finding arena teams etc.
