Anyone who was excited about getting these prepare for the mother of all grinds!
You will have to run this event more than 800 times if you want these and it’s all completely randomized so you can forget about targeting a specific set.
Edit (4/13/26): Looks like they listened to reason!

They will keep it high to drive play time numbers up then nerf the cost like they always do. Smh.

Blizzard will reluctantly walk it back like 3 times and get to the point everyone knows it should’ve started at. It’s only been like 3 months since prepatch event which followed the exact same cadence.

Is that Field Accolade currency already in the game or is it part of that patch?
Part of the patch. They are an absurdly bad grind at present, much like the twilight hammer things last event.

Gotta make up some reason to do these assaults more than 2-3x, by which time you’re already bored to tears and have vowed never to return.
It might cross into “never mind, not bothering” territory for a lot of people.

Why would things that “don’t affect gameplay” be the biggest ugliest most frustrating grinds?

Yeah this is completely unacceptable and massively disrespectful of player time. At the current token drop rate it was already going to be massive grind, there was no need to involve RNG on top of that.

Since you can’t get the same piece twice I think this is fine.

As an avid tmog collector who’s constantly pursuing any oddities that I think are neat looking, even if they’re difficult-
I will simply not.
That sends a better message than engaging with crappy RNG on a hideous level of repetition. Whatever the internal takeaway is from that lack of engagement, I don’t care, because any interpretation is correct. Including: Plz stop rehashing T2 FFS. The nostalgia farming is getting pathetic at this point. Most of them look like crap too, all of the OG classes except rogue are fugly no matter what alternate color scheme is applied.

Literally the exact same thing as the pre-patch event, it’s like they have no capacity to learn… or rather they stubbornly try to push the envelope to see what they can get away with and what the playerbase will tolerate.

Some math: Assuming wowhead’s numbers are correct and it takes 30 minutes to grind 100 tokens (which, if an event takes 15 minutes and awards 35… 30 minutes doesn’t seem right?) But if we assume that the token acquisition rate is 200 tokens/hr, here’s the math:
11900 (this token number doesn’t include weapons, btw)/200 tokens is 59.5, so we round up.
That means 60 hours of grinding to get everything, assuming no repeats.
If their number of ‘100 tokens in 30 minutes’ isn’t correct and it’s actually the ‘15 minutes for 35 tokens’ that means you’re looking at an acquisition rate of 140 tokens/hr. This raises the grind time even further.
11900/140 gives us 85 hours of grinding to get all the sets.
None of this includes weapons.

Pray for that player getting set items for a class they don’t even play.
Lol remember when people said that about these sets last time and then they were doable in like a day

It isn’t if you aren’t trying to get ALL the sets and even if you are, you will likely still want to prioritize which ones you unlock first. Not all T2 sets are iconic and not every one of them looks good with a purple color scheme. Also not everyone regularly plays each class or even has alts of every class.
To put it in perspective we’re talking something like 90-100 hours to get all of these, it’s ridiculous. Especially when you consider how much easier the other two versions were to obtain. And even more so when you factor in that item dyeing should be a baseline game feature and not a tool used to enforce mindless grinding.

If you’re talking about the pre-patch set that was because they repeatedly buffed the amount of currency you could get and doubled the rares spawn rate after player backlash…

That happens because a lot of players are disgusted, and say so, and clearly refuse to take part… and Blizz caves.
The moment players stop saying something, Blizz will leave it as is, and then try to push the envelope further and further every time.
