Sure eventually but I don’t think we can compare the replay value to dailies to M+, PvP or Raiding or any of the instanced content really except maybe warfronts/islands? I mean BG’ers in specific as an example have been playing on the same BGs for 6 years now with very little rewards since the removal of PvP vendors. People in general will leave instances when instances aren’t in general the more engaging and enjoyable content. I agree that it would be nice if world content was worth it so when you don’t have the time or can’t get a group for instance content you have options but at the same time, I still think reward dumping is lazy.

At the core, yes but it doesn’t have to be just “kill 15 nagas” every week. Why am I doing this, what is this accomplishing in the world im in, what are the impacts on the zone, what are the nagas doing in response, etc. Kill 15 nagas and ding is such a dull activity when it doesn’t really have to be. I would rather them reduce the overall number of WQs and Dailies but flesh out each and every single one of them so they are immersive and engaging experiences with replay value.

Speaking of replay value, 2 huge triggers for replay value that world content is missing, that ive seen in other games:

  • Counter-Play Based Difficulty: Not jumping jelly difficulty but mob difficulty where your reaction is semi-important to the fight. Let’s not lie, all mobs right now can be fought by spamming 1,2,3. Instead of making mob density huge with a million worthless mobs, create less mobs and make them more interactive to fight. Most of the “difficult” mobs in world content rn are only difficult because of numbers and their is little counterplay. As a clothie when this patch dropped Naz was terrible. Every time I died I didn’t die because mechanics or counterplay, I died simply because a mob meleed me to death and had twice my hp. Wheres the interactivity in that? Wheres the engagement when NPCs are just stat checks? If I die to an NPC in the world it should be because I wasted my interrupt on the wrong spell, I stood in a mechanic, I didn’t soothe/dispel an effect, I didn’t CC them during something, etc. It should never be because X mob just melee’d me to death and had much more hp.

  • Dynamic Events: The boss spawn events and zone scenarios in nazjatar are a good start. More please. Preferably events that change the zone temporarily and create a feel that what your doing matters. I wonder what impact the zone would have if those GIANT monsters hanging out around sea wall swam and fell in thrashing through the zone. Maybe if destroying (visually) parts of the zones as they thrash through. Maybe if players don’t defeat them before they make it to a base, the next event to spawn is about rebuilding the outpost and same features at the outpost are disabled until it’s rebuilt. Maybe if they don’t rebuild the base in-time the naga start sieging it. THEN you can even have your generic “kill 15 naga” quests and the like where it makes sence and gives your character an important role. Like make things have impact on the world.
