It’s wrong that Blizzard tries to “balance” the game by making pure damage classes do the same amount of DPS as classes that can self-heal. Sure, I can do a little more damage than a paladin, but they can also heal to full health four times over in the time it takes for the CD on Exhiliration to pop. There needs to be a trade-off between amazing self-healing and amazing DPS. No spec should ever have both.
Yeah, you’re right, they should also take away all DPS’s utility too, like bloodlust on mages and hunters. Since Bloodlust belong on a healing class.
I should do like 500k dps. With pistol shot only. I want to be a ranged class.
Ok but then what’s the point of playing a hybrid class? Why bring any of them for dps?
Sorry, I mean in PvP, mostly. I don’t mind my shadow priests zerging raid bosses and healing themselves in the process lol.
Ah pvp that’s a fair argument in that case.
As long as we remove all utility and self healing from pure dps.
No hunter lust. No hunter immunity. No hunter dispel. No hunter traps.
Pure dps.
Means you dps only.
DPS shamans coincidentally forgot how to bloodlust in your history books eh.
Same goes for rotation simplicity. A high skill-cap spec should NEVER lose to a simple-rotation spec under any circumstance. Why would someone take the path of most resistance if they can literally do they same DPS with a fifth of the effort and brain-power. It’s complete nonsense. This is why so many people play DH… same throughput as every other class, but literally has 3 buttons. There’s no more risk/reward or pros/cons to classes in modern wow any more. It’s becoming less of an MMORPG with each xpac so they can market the game to a larger audience.
looks at word of glory ummmm… there’s still reasons
So true. I think each class should have a low, medium, and high skill cap spec. And I’d love for the high skill cap ones to be able to do the least/most damage!
On the same note, why do I do more passive self-healing as Havoc than as Shadow, when Shadow shares a class with two healing specs?
Shadows used to be kings of passive self-healing, now I have to shadowmend if I accidentally pull two mobs.
It’s common sense, and sad that the devs are on that short leash of Activision now
Rogue and Mage are consistently broken.
So let’s call it even.
Just… /popcorn at this whole thread.
Lol okay Hunter. Did you forget that many Pure DPS classes have some of the best defensives in the game? You also have baseline CC and get a pet.
You know what I will bite, let PURE DPS specs do more damage than hybrids.
Alternatively, give Hybrid specs MORE utility and POWERFUL healing capabilities (to a lesser extent).
I would be fine with this, but as it stands now classes like Rogue/Mage/Hunter have lots of damage and strong immunity defensives. Classes like Druid/Shaman don’t have the potential healing output that something like Ret has NOR does it have an immunity.
Lets give Druids a stronger Defensive and Tranq in Feral/Balance, Shamans Spirit Link in Ele/Enhance. In addition, lets up the defensive bonus of Druids/Shamans and reduce their defensive CDs to compensate for less raw damage.
These are just a few off the top of my head, but if you want Pure DPS specs to do a significantly more amount of damage (and lets just say 15% so its not too much), then Hybrids needs lots of buffs to be more supportive.
And if we are talking PvP, than the defensive/healing bonuses from Hybrids will definitely need to be higher. It would be colossally unfair if I did 15-20% less damage than a Rogue, while getting stunlocked, and my healing doing nothing. Strangely enough, the stun lock/cc lock and my healing doing nothing are very true as a DPS shaman. Change that and you get more damage.
Remember when Blizzard “balanced” hunters by removing the melee deadzone and giving them an immunity shield? Now there is a pure DPS class out there with incredible range, huge kiting capabilities, an immunity, and they can’t be interrupted / silenced. Good times.
It feels like in the Kaplan era, hybrids were forced to be bad because Tigole hated support classes in EQ1. Then when they decided to buff hybrid damage, they went overboard in the other direction. We can’t seem to hit a goldilocks medium.
I agree to pure DPS classes should do more damage than Hybrids ONLY if Hybrids can change specs while in combat or do multiple specs at the same time.
