Punished for doing dungeons while leveling

I’m 58, just did my first quest in Ardenweald. All of the mobs / quests are green, and the rewards are too low for me.
Why am I being forced to level in this zone?
Why can’t I switch to the higher zone yet?
By the time I finish here I’ll be 60. But I’ll still have an entire zone left before I can start anything.
I only did about 3 side quests and 5 dungeons. But I guess that was enough to throw everything off.

Edit:
I don’t mind the questing. But it’s pointless to force me to do quests that are too low for me. The mobs give almost no XP, and the item rewards are all lower than my level. They don’t scale pre 60

Yeah how come they give you xp for doing dungeons. What a calamity.

They don’t scale pre 60.
Zones / mobs / rewards do not scale pre 60.
A level 58 will get the same ilvl that a lvl 51 gets

Because your level is unimportant. View the main story as end game prep. You won’t be restricted on any alts you level. Its just a one time thing so you know what’s actually going on.

and what is going on is a boring game! I lost focus on the story about 30 minutes in because the writing and voice acting is just awful

I don’t know what’s going on in the other zones.
I don’t even care. I know which covenant I’m going to choose. I don’t know their name, but I know they are in Bastion.

that’s cool, I’m in the same boat and don’t care at all because it’s been so boring, just pushing thru to 60, if it’s still bad at 60 I unsub after flying and come back during catch up and level alts

It’s never been this bad for me leveling, not even in WoD

You need to do the campaign quest 1 time and then never have to do it for any alts .

Man people cry for everything on here .

So my alts will be 60 after stepping into SL? they still have to level thru the zones and do the same boring quests I did

Yeah best thing to do is think of it less as leveling and more as a campaign quest chain that needs to be completed so you can make your choice.

Essentially they put the war campaign in the leveling experience rather than waiting until you hit max level.

You wouldn’t over level it if you just did the MSQ like everyone said to do on day 1.

Because the ilevel is not important … you jsut have to do the campaign quest one time on one toon.
