Edited for posterity…
Okay…so we’re done arguing the point then? You have nothing to say in regards to what was actually quoted?
No, I meant what I said. It makes my gameplay better. It feels -good- to choose an ability and see it work the way you intended to counter an element of the content I’d be doing. I mean, if we wanna play the quote editing game I can easily go back and find some easy marks, but whatever…you do you. Why argue a point when we can just change the opposition’s point of view against their will?
Take your head out of your butt. M+ and Raids are only a small part of the content. Most of the covenants are built around ALL of the content not just that one part. Last time I checked they are doing large amount of world content plus Torghast. Did you stop and think for a minute thay they developed content around those as well? Nah. Why would they.
Removing the abilities from covenants makes it a decision based on story. Keeping the abilities tied to them makes it a decision based on what’s viable. Nobody wants to be that person who’s bringing their raid stats to pvp. It’s not fun to be arbitrarily weaker and unable to improve.
It also makes it easier. The ability to pick the best ability for all occasions makes content far more easier than using the tools with what your given.
People mock the argument of Rogues should be able to use ranged weapons and Hunter skills, but that’s the point.
…no. No, it really isn’t the point. You’re arguing that if we can swap covenants, TEMPORARY BORROWED POWER BTW, you should be able to just swap classes with the click of a button. It’s an asinine argument and is absolutely not grounded in reality.
Getting the less awesome legion lendaries for months felt bad. Ripcord is trying to avoid feel bad while sacrificing nothing to someone who wants to stick to a covenant exactly as it is right now.
Why do people want a feel bad mechanic in the game? Who hurt you?
So your saying the Night Fae should have an an ability called “Death Door”? That makes perfect sense or the Kyrian should have an ablity called “Sinful Brand”. Every skill and ability is flavored and tailored to that covenant.
Yet, you assume that you should swap Covenants like changing a Talent. Covenants abilities are not talents, but because you think power should always be inherited, that you’re entitled to all these abilities on a whim.
Same precedent.
Are you kidding me? M+ and raids are basically the end game content that we do gameplay wise, bro. Yeah, covenants are probably made in mind for all the content being played, but all the covenants aren’t balanced enough to do the same thing for that particular situation.
One covenant is better for healing.
One covenant for AoE damage
One covenant for Mobility.
One covenant for single target damage.
Why do I have to be stuck to one of these. It’s basically just a freakin’ talent tree.
Rename them, as multiple examples in this thread have shown. Not that hard.
Celestial Hallow
Ashen Hallow
Deathly Hallow
Autumnal Hallow
Same ability, four different names based on covenant.
Covenant abilities ARE talents. They quack and walk just like ducks, they just aren’t easily swappable, which is dumb…we’ve gotten to the crux of the argument now.
Except they’re not Talents. Again, your bias is showing.
They don’t have to keep the same name. They can accomodate the name for whatever covenant you chose, change the particle effects, and so on and so forth. That’s why there’s hotfixes and updates.
What bias? If you’re talking about wanting covenants unlocked…then yeah, obviously. You’re biased too, why are we arguing about biases? Anyway, let’s get back to the point. Why is Blizzard locking 2 talent rows, it seems exceptionally dumb to me. None of our other talents have ever been locked, why are they trying to do this now?
Comes down to then why bother having multiple classes at all? Just have 1 base class that has a set of predetermined skills. Just remove all choice. That way the numbers would be perfect.
On top of that they would have to redo every animation. I am sure Sinful brand does not LOOK like a spell a Kyrian would use. Death Door is not tied to nature.
You’re right, classes are totally equivalent to 2 talent rows that will be going away in two years. Really nailed it there, chief.
They’re not talents. Period. I don’t know why you’re defending this hill when Covenant class abilities are clearly meant as a flavor ability.
Check it out. Easily swappable, matching the theme of all the covenants.
Because they’re not permanent and should add fun to the game. Fun is subjective, which means it should be flexible.
