I’m getting mixed signals.
On?
You don’t need to socialize to get crafts and that addon helps make sure you don’t. I’m not sure where the contradiction is.
Typing “looking for max craft” in /2 and getting automated replies isn’t any kind of extensive socializing.
I don’t waste my mats on the public order system where some rando can 3 star a pattern for me.
that would be stupid
if the item has no rank, sure I’ll use public, but if it has ranks, I’m not dumb enough to use public. I use guild or search for a crafter in trade.
i’ve only used it for profession tools
but i find the private order system annoying. why clog the chat with that junk that only one person will get but i get 50 whispers for. just let us require a quality the barriers are not making things any more interesting, just more tedious.
it would be so nice if they would just let us require a quality on public orders.
the reasons they didn’t? well those are covered by patron orders. there is 0 reason anymore not to let us require rank 5 on public orders.
i’ve used it to request items for mog purposes and pvp rings/neck. I’m on a dead server so there’s almost always a pvp order sitting in public for my JC to fulfill. Public order is fantastic for us
I havent used a public order in forever. Thankfully our guild has a few people who are profession wizards who have every profession maxed out so I just go pester them lol. I have tried getting my own professions in a spot where I can make money with public orders, but its just so much work and theres a lot of competition now
Once in dragonflight, and never again.
lol, in another thread I saw somebody say unrestricted public orders would remove an integral part of an MMO - the socializing.
Like, what socializing? The average crafting experiences goes like this:
“LF crafter for [thing]”
“i can do it”
“sent order”
“done”
“thanks!”
About as much socializing as having to make small talk with the cashier because self checkout was closed.
I have never been shafted by someone who filled a public order I made, but if the standard is that it’s going to be max quality anyway then not allowing you to set that as a minimum is totally asinine. The only reason they won’t do it is because it would make personal orders less relevant, so it’s just an arbitrary and artificial way to shore up weak points in their own system.
I make everything for myself.
They’re trying to push this half baked social angle with Recrafting by forcing you to send it to a specific person.
Which in turn makes Public Orders worthless.
lmao.
I level alts for any professions I need.
The truth is that you could just make the public order npc an automated system, remove crafting professions and keep gathering professions.
It basically feels like that already anyway
Yeah but then you wouldn’t have professions as a time and gold sink, which is exactly what they’re meant to be.
the professions are utter trash so I dont
There was socializing prior to the mass reply nonsense that this particular type of addon causes. But to say that there’s no socializing involved because of addons would be on par with saying “There’s no socializing when looking for or when one is in a guild because of people sending out en masse spammy messages ‘recruiting’ people for a guild.”
I ignore folks who spam en masse with these types of addons and talk with folks who don’t use 'em. Simple enough solution, at least if/until Blizzard break this type of addons (they won’t, but a person can dream).
To say that there’s no socializing involved because one purposefully avoid to socialize when in a social environment is entirely on your head. Not the actual system.
The existence of self-checkout doesn’t remove a person’s ability to talk with a cashier when one does talk with a cashier. This example is using your analogy but this can be used to describe virtually any and all encounters that offers up the potential to socialize with folks.
… I really wish my style of writing was less ridiculous when describing this, but you get what I mean.
I personally never use the public order system because I don’t trust a random person to deliver what I ask in the note. I could ask for a 675, provide top tier mats and a generous tip and still get a 671 because someone who wasn’t maxed in that tree decided to take the order, craft whatever came out, and bolt with the tip. I think most players feel that way because apart from enchanted crests last season I’ve never seen a single public order listed on my enchanting, blacksmithing, engineering, or tailoring alts.
In reality it should just let us post with the mats we are using and desired quality, set the tip amount, and crafters can decide if it’s worth it for them. if the order doesn’t get filled, the buyer can adjust the tip until it does.
the sOcIaL aspect is laughable, it’s 20 people sending me a tell and i pick a random one to say “sent”, the end.
This addon ruined one of the reasons professions went through a makeover
I don’t. They are turning crafting into a convenience store minus the increased prices for the convenience. I just pick a name from the list that I like the most, put in the order, tip a standard amount and get my craft.
I don’t know why people love that we’ve cut the social aspect out of so many parts of the game (leveling, random dungeons, lfr, etc) but complain about this ONE in particular.
