I’m guessing you pug normal mode cata raids and not heroic.
I agree era doesn’t need much communication, the fights are designed for toddlers.
Who still pugs onxyia as a guild? We split into 2 13-15 man runs using alts to get more head drops.
Just join discord you clown. Just cause you can do the fight doesn’t mean discord should not be required, most people need hand holding.

And for every time joining discord isn’t enforced some clown pug dies to breath WITHOUT FAIL. There’s a reason people make it a requirement.
If you don’t understand the point of an SR list I don’t know what to say.
No, it’s enforced because people die to the most obvious things all the time when they aren’t, 9/10 pugs are braindead so you can’t expect the group to just blindly trust a pug.

I joined one the other day and the raid leader would NOT stop talking the entire time. All of the most obvious things. Someone else would say something and this guy would repeat it right after it was said. It was so annoying. These people love hearing themselves talk.

Then you need to form your own raid. It’s not hard to join discord or to navigate the 7 available voice channels. We’re at the point in raiding where one person not paying attention or failing to adapt to changes can wipe the raid. You might be able to play your class well, but other peoples’ mistakes can still affect you. Being in voice can help quickly mitigate those issues. You need to be able to listen to instructions. You don’t need to use a mic.
Just find a raid that doesn’t ask you to do this or make your own.
Joining Discord is too much effort, but making a thread to argue with people on the forums about it, while telegraphing a bad attitude, and some weird sense of entitlement where you believe strangers who owe you nothing must organize their raids in the way you see fit. Yea, okay.

Some guilds use the world bosses to meet new people, and then recruit.
SOD pop is on the decline. Even top end guilds on CS are recruiting actively.
So its not the question of can we 5 man onyxia, because it can certainly be done…its a matter of keeping a healthy roster that can last through dying phases.
Discord pugs i have been in are either some 15 yr old screeching or some dad who only knows how to communicate with other people through corpo middle management speak. Pass, i just leave those runs

Just… don’t join those PuGs. There’s a reason and purpose for it but ultimately it is the raid leader’s call to do as they please.

I joined a kazzak pug and after filling was unironically linked a discord and asked to sign up in the roster. It’s obnoxious.
and here i am waiting for leaf still and it drops to that guy…
The roster boss will always exist, regardless if there are 10,000 players or 10,000,000 players.
Guilds will always need to recruit if they have any separation between them and a pug.
