PSA: I am not obligated to help every person I come across in the world

If the guy ran past you with 50 spiders chasing him, I’m not sure what he expected you to do about it.

i agree fully.

the real annoy bit is when they do this, expect you to help but you dont, then die and all them mobs randomly target you and u die for their stupidity.

If i want I’ll help ppl i am passing by. (even if they are other faction) but thats my choice. be happy if i help but dont throw a fit if idont…you aint in my party.

Gotta be honest, in that situation, I would have just stood and watched…

…and possibly laughed.

I don’t know you. I don’t owe you anything. I might help you if I find that I’m morally obligated to. I’m usually NOT morally obligated to.

In a game where most people are murdering and pillaging, I don’t feel bad when a murderer dies.

None of my characters on Bloodsail Buccaneers have killed a single humanoid mob. None of them initiate violence, they only defend when something attacks them. I don’t group with murders and such, because my characters aren’t murderers. If some Red Name murderer gets mad at me for not helping, I’ll just laugh at the absurdity of their self entitlement.

If someone is dragging a train I’m not “helping”. All that’ll do is get me a corpse run. No thanks. Maybe don’t aggro the whole zone next time.

If someone is fighting a mob, maybe two and have low health I’ll toss them a heal or two. Maybe buff them if I’m not planning on pulling something in the next few seconds myself. As long as it doesn’t interrupt the flow of what I’m doing. I won’t get involved in a mage Aoe farming regardless of how low their health is. You might have signed up for the occasional corpse run from an ill time pat, or resist but I definitely did not. Might toss them a wave though as they try to blink away.

I get help rarely if I’m about dying but most of the deaths I had were on me and I didn’t expect help, I should just learn from them and get better. It’s nice to get it but don’t expect anything from anyone. Git gud.

You have not truly given till you have given yourself a loss.

I try and gauge it. If it looks like a lost cause, I will just get out of the way, and rez them if I am on my Priest.

If I can help without getting myself killed, I will. I have had several fun encounters where we both barely made it.

I should mention something that happened yesterday lol. Someone running through the barrens had a bunch of silithid on him, he ran towards me, he died, they aggro’d to me, I ran and lived. I ran back and ressed him, said sorry for not helping but if I died who would res? He laughed, he buffed me, and we split.

Opposite spectrum: In stonetalon I was doing that quest to gather seeds near Mirkfallon Lake. I guess this rogue got mad that he and I approached the same seed at the same time but I got it. I ended up fighting two spiders and he just sat there cheering for the spider, watching me inch closer to death. Killed them both with 15 hp left and he’s like “Oh you lived” and /clap at me. I spit on him, called him a few things, and continued to follow him and steal his seeds as revenge.

Ill jus toss rezzes on people Instead of healing them. ( if the situation is a no win )

Prevents the whole griefing issue where peeps intentionally pull adds to people.

But ill help out people with 1-3 mobs out in the world. If you dont want to help that is fine but dont see why we needed a forum post about it lol. Do you feel better?

It really doesn’t. That’s all you looking for a cause to fight.

Also, you’re very condescending yourself. I think Apoc is right about you.

Unless I know you from world/trade and/or you being an unfunny douchenozzle, I’ll probably help you unless it’s clear that we’ll both die. That only applies until you fail to show me the same courtesy.

If you’re near death and I save you and then you fail to return the favour later to when you’re able, I’ll make a mental note not to help you again. It is a small world… of warcraft after all.

Usually when I see a priest or warlock getting swarmed it’s because a mob they feared ends up pulling everything in the zip code.

Fear isn’t really an issue with UD.

it is if a spider runs through a group of mobs.

I mean, you have to really need to use an AoE fear some places to even try it. I’m still amazed how far mobs will run.

Did you really take time to write this post?

If you were a mage and chose not to frost nova to help him get away I would think you’re a terrible person too.

Not sure what a rogue would have been able to do even if they wanted to help in that situation though. Your kind is only useful for unlocking things.

Well i did have one guy walking past me last night. Stars spinning around his head, green bubbles floating off him and down to about 5% health. It was just one mob so i had to try help him but yeah, wolf ate him first.

If they are getting by 3 or more mobs I stay out of it, but as of late I don’t help. The past week I’ve helped a few people and they took off running when the mobs came after me, then I died  one or two I might but more than that… screw it, It’s a good day for you to die LOL

He’s saying that, while fear juggling, you get unlucky and the mob that you feared pulls a bunch of friends.

I think most of my deaths as a warlock have come from getting too aggressive with fear juggling in an area with high mob density.
