Or discord a la AGS lol
I thought about it, but I’m not sure I use Wowhead enough to warrant paying for it. I only ever google something, click the wowhead link, read the comments till i find what I am looking for, and then leave. I don’t actually use Wowhead features.
oh, i forgot, I do look at the class talent guides.
Have there been new developments with this ‘news’? Last I heard (a few days ago), the only thing that changed with Firefox was wording in their legal stuff to comply with some law in California that has a very broad definition of what the word ‘sell’ means, and as such opening the door for the potential sale of user data (which to be realistic, likely means it’ll happen eventually). But Mozilla’s actual practices regarding user data on Firefox haven’t changed in years.
No clarification that I’ve seen, besides ‘there seems to be some confusion’ song and dance. Whenever a company trots out that line of BS without immediate and detailed explanation you know with 10000% certainty there was no “confusion” at all.
CDPA isn’t changing and FF didn’t run afoul of it before. Removing all of that stuff from their license can only mean they intend to sell your data at some point.
That’s not the worst dealbreaker in the world, but Waterfox / Zen / Libre are right there and identical minus that nonsense.
Brave Browser, you’ll thank me later
Use firefox. It’s better in every possible way.
Most importantly, it’s the only browser that doesn’t run off chromium. And transitioning from one to the other is easier than ever.
I use it but I hate it, it is not better in every way ever lol
Braves days are numbered too
I agree with using Firefox, but “better in every possible way” is just objectively not true.
Chromium-based browsers are superior in performance. it’s just all the ad and privacy nonsense from Google that gets in the way.
They been saying that for years, it’s still going strong. Only browser worth using with a built in ad/script blocker on windows
Mv2 hasn’t been starting to be killed of for years, it just started now, even brave has acknowledged that they can’t keep mv3 away forever and eventually will have to stop supporting better ad blockers
I had Chrome disable Ublock Origin and AutoplayStopper when I opened it today, saying they were no longer supported. I just went back in and turned them back on.
It’s their agenda with YT and the fact that many of us do not want to watch their ads. For the past year they kept doing things like making my “watch later” just stop working because they could tell I was blocking the ads. They did this on several occasions and it seems eventually gave up, I guess because they are going about it this way now.
I’ll just switch to FF for YT (and whatever else) if I have to. It’s just stupid. I used to use FF and forgot why I switched in the first place.
None of it really matters anyway, those who will switch are such a small portion, barely anyone even uses ad blockers
Idk who wouldn’t if they have a computer. I think to the WoW community it matters, we use computers, but society as a whole it sounds like a lot of people are just on their phones all the time. Not sure if there is a way to block YT ads, for example, on their app. I imagine they would design in a way where there shouldn’t be an ability to do so anyway.
70% of people use chrome as of 2024, and only 31% of internet users use an ad blocker
It really won’t change much for them lol
I question why they even bother
I wasn’t actually ever arguing whether or not it would have an impact on Google. I just know IIIII don’t want to be bothered with ads, I watch a LOT of YT.
So not sure why you brought it up in the first place as a response to me, I don’t actually care what anyone else is doing.
I mean, it’s a forum thread, it’s about discussion.
fandom is so so so bad i cant wait for people ot move somewhere else bc this is so bad
I wasn’t discussing that, since you were hitting reply to me it seems like you thought I was discussing that? I don’t care how desperate Google gets, they have a business to run and I, as a consumer, have the right to go elsewhere. Problem solved for me at least.
I swapped to FF mostly for Youtube because I got tired of getting “blocked” and fighting to listen to videos and at the cost I just stay unlogged into Youtube there. They can track me and my preferences all they want there just so long as the videos stay running.
But yeah collecting and selling my data is a pure loss for any company dumb enough to pay to try. I’m worth nothing and fine with it being that way. Anyone stupid enough to steal my identity can have it. It is your problem now and you can have all the downsides of being me. Hope it works out better for you would be what I say.
