The game does not know what essences you have unlocked on your characters until you log onto them.
You can talk to mother if she does not have the option to show you what you can buy you will not receive any.
Why do you have to log in to even GET the currency. I should get the currency regardless.

If the first toon you log on is an alt. the game doesn’t know that you have other essences unlocked. Trade chat is full of it and there are several threads here as well. I logged onto my main and back onto this toon and suddenly mother had things available were she did not give me the option before.
I don’t need to have essences unlocked to GET CURRENCY. I have to have them unlocked to BUY ESSENCES. All toons that completed appropriate activities shoudl get currency whether they can actually spend it or not.
It’s a poorly thought out system, the game should be able to determine what level 3 essences are on the account without you needing to log those characters in. Either way, at least we know now.
The fact that a character did not receive currency for completing the correct activities, regardless of what essences you have unlocked or not, is a bug and the currency needs to be reimbursed.
But you know they wont. PR and customer service in general are not ActiBlizzards strong point.
All i know is Blizz better not pull the “we apologise but cannot reimburse you missing currency”

This is a really frustrating design flaw… Glad I potentially wasted both my Black Empire Assault and my M+ Cache this week due to this! Really hoping they’ll fix and award players the currency they earned.
You already know that’s what’s going to happen. They can literally see on their end that you did a key and opened a box but I’m sure they’ll give the worst excuse possible as to why they can’t give you your currency.
I knew i should have checked the forums first. DAMNIT. There goes those essences for my alts. SO STUPID.
If they dont give it back im just unsubbing til shadowlands.

Honestly it is super frustrating. I worked hard in preparation for this and, through no fault of my own, this character did not receive the currency. Right now, I am waiting for Blizz to address asap and hoping for the best.

This is so off putting I don’t even want to play now.
I lost out on my M+ cache and Arokan Emmisary Echoes because I didn’t log onto my main first. WTF does that have to do with the currency being activated?

Nowere. I missed echoes on this toon from both chest and emessary went to mother and there was no pane to buy essences. Logged onto main that had the rank 3s then went back to this toon and now I can buy them.
Just wanted to let people know as soon as possible. If it doesnt work no harm done other then 10 sec lost logging on to your main first.
Then OP doesn’t know and is guessing, and should keep their PSA to themself.
I don’t think anyone is disagreeing with you, but it is what it is.
You can hope to get reimbursed, or work around the bug by just logging into alts.
