Having let my time lapse in Cata and WoD for decent lengths, my only advice is remember WoW is the Titanic. I don't mean that in a mean WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE way, only in the analogy that it is a massive, hulking machine, with a tiny rudder. This pile of ship don't turn fast.
Any changes coming are changes that will take at best weeks to see. It will likely be months - as I've said - before I see any of my personal grievances addressed, if ever.
If you come back, come back informed, and don't let the current state at that time surprise you.
Good advice.
It just honestly pains me to think that when a person says something semi-ambiguous that I must assume the absolute worst of those words.
I work for a company that has been on the list of the most Ethical companies in the world for over a decade. I'm just not used to people acting this way and it honestly saddens me.
I know what the truth can do for your business relationships...
Ethics generally tends to run counter to current corporate strategy. Ethics is a long-term goal, a culture built within the company that requires participation at all levels, and difficult to maintain, while the feedback/rewards you get at all levels is usually quarter based and short-sighted.
Even Google has a very hard time following it's own mantra of 'Don't be evil'.
Blizzard doing as any business does doesn't.... 'sadden' me, so much as the cynic in me will remember every 'ethical' decision they make just happens to align today with what helps the bottom line, or they wouldn't make it.

Agreed.
I just happen to think you can do things that add to the bottom line and improve the relationship with the players at the same time. But they seem really adverse to doing that.

I don't know. The AAA industry as a whole feels a little.... sick? Anemic?
I'm sure part of it is the customer base is a rather vocal, volatile sort, but between EA, Konomi, Ubisoft, ActiBlizz, etc.... it's very hard to pick out a model company I feel comfortable supporting.
I like Bioware in general, but I have made a policy to never give EA money ever again -_-
Also Bioware seems to be having it's own problems atm lol
I started listening to the WoW audio books while at work a couple weeks ago. I have gone through Dawn of the Aspects, War Crimes, and just started Vol'jin last night. There was an exchange between Taran Zhu and Aysa Cloudsinger and it brought a grin to my face.
Taran Zhu had asked Aysa's opinion on something, and Chen remarked that after her answer she didn't press to see if she was correct. He had asked her opinion, therefore she couldn't be wrong. Succinctly put, if I do say so myself.
Side note: I think Scott Brick has a lovely voice.
When you consider that many of us have been playing for years, decades if you include other Blizzard games, and have willingly given money to this company over the years, you cannot say as loyal fans our opinion does not matter. I mean you can, no one is stopping you. But you'd be wrong. You can disregard it as whining or raging or hysteria but I have stood by Blizzard's products through high school, through college, and am still playing now.
Goblins say, "Time is money, friend." and that definitely seems to be Blizzard's stance. Like I said, going forward I will be watching them with more scrutiny than ever before. Over the years many of my in-game friends have moved on from the game for many reasons, not all putting Blizzard at fault. Maybe it's just my turn.
tuesday and still no blue post really addressing this. not at all surprised. they will wait a month and see if they can live with the lost subs. when is the next Blizzard Activision quarterly report coming out on sub numbers and revenue?
Another side note: Did a Legion invasion world quest today and got another chuckle.
After defeating an elite enemy Illidan says, "The growth of your power is most impressive. The Legion knows your name... and fears it."
Do they, though?

Nintendo seems to be the only gaming company these days that cares about the quality of their product. They'll delay and delay and delay if it means producing something that's actually great (opinions may vary of course).
Aside from PC, Nintendo consoles are the only consoles I buy.

Nintendo has a long history with my family (lol being the kid with a game cube while all the cool games are coming out on PS2)
The only issue I really have with them is their hardware has scarcity issues (though, that may be a result of more rigorous QC than the competitors), and a reliance on nostalgia over new IP.
Also Nintendo Japan and Nintendo NA can't seem to agree on what is and isn't their copyright policy.

I'll admit Nintendo isn't perfect, but their willingness to delay for quality and take risks to innovate has given me respect for them.
Respect. Is what truly makes a company great. Alas my respect for Blizz has quickly been draining as of late.
Stonewalled.
Sub ends in 4 days, it was fun, wish you all the best.
So those that are demanding an apology.... they will file bankruptcy and make the game in the public domain before they apologize to anyone. I unsubed over the mob item level scaling. within a month I will only be able to post on the European forums. the only thing blizzard understands is money. you want to get them to remove this then let subs go under 2 million and it will go away along with the entire development team

I have 13 days or so left on mine though it doesn't matter. I have already uninstalled WoW and anything to do with it or any other battle.net game from my machine in anticipation of nothing changing.
I think Level scaling across all an expansions zones is a terrible idea. down the road when people are leveling thru Legion alone years from now it will not be a fun experience for many.
At this point I may be stepping off in to dreamland considering Blizzard Entertainments record on keeping their word, but consider that 'many years from now' or even 'many months from now' most everyone will have completed Broken Isles Pathfinder parts one and two on at least one toon (those of us (and I include myself in that number...*cue deep tarry echo enhanced James Earl Jones voice and raspy breath*...for now) who remain that is) and so those alts who level through Legion at that distant time will be able to circumvent quite a lot of the crap obstacles placed in the way.

unlike every other expansion the mobs will level with you when you hit 101 so will the mobs, its going to be worst that BC to level in years from now flight or no flight. then the people just starting the game get to walk thru two expansions or spend months trying to enable flight. it will be like groundhog day in Cleveland in December without the cute news producer
Honestly, at this point, it just seems like they're being stubborn about not wanting to remove this new tech. They loved scaling so much while leveling, let's put it EVERYWHERE!!!
Huh... still no blue post outside of the CM at the way beginning of this post. I guess I got my hopes up too much, was hoping we'd get a real response to this but it probably is like stated before, a thread to have us cool off and vent and give up.
So the assaults are actually world quests.. just.. wow
I was not clear either, I think Level scaling across all an expansions zones is a terrible idea. down the road when people are leveling thru Legion alone years from now it will not be a fun experience for many. i usually take a few minutes or so to write up a reply maybe you did edit it I wouldn't know. I never look back always forward
Its already here. After the mini holiday event in Silithus the twilight mobs are still scaled to your level. Folks that like, or want to go farm old content, rep etc, are pretty much screwed now. 11 more days done.

Omg lol I had no idea
You do 4 world quests in the zone then you do 2 more after talking to the quest giver. Then a final assault on the bad guy (It's a que-able scenario with 3 players). Nothing like pre-launch /sighs
