PSA: Creatures now scale with item level #2

No gates are necessary.

People shouldn't be saved from themselves. If it's that fun to do, I'll do it on alts like I always have. That's the enjoyment I get from the game.

Now, I am finding that the gates make it so I don't want to do it again.

This. I never understood why "I have nothing to do," was ever catered toward in design.

There was lots to do in WoD--the issue was that not everybody wanted to do everything. And that's okay! So long as you aren't hyping a patch as being "so much content," and then not delivering on that. (SELFIE patch, 7.2...see a pattern?)

There is a ton to do, right now. Not all of it is streamlined and a lot of it is repetitive/grindy...so why they introduced such heavy gating into Broken Shore AND such a lengthy grind for AP and so on it beyond me. Ilvl scaling just makes it worse.

I would've preferred them streamlining altspecs and/or alting a bit. They did some of that, but there's still leaps and bounds to go, there.

At least not having all the flight paths on alts will be better when we FINALLY unlock flying. Eesh.

It should be downvoted to death. Those brown nosers over at MMO are the worst of the worst of all sites i have been to that are affiliated with the game in ANY way. There are so many White Knights there the glare from their armor is blinding! It makes it hard to read anything and take most of it serious because of the "Bias" at that site.

White knights? They hate WoW even more than we do.

EDIT: Just to clarify, I DON'T hate WoW, not even a little. I'm not remotely happy about its current direction though.

You can see that for yourself in this thread. From everyone (except the trolls and boot lickers) protesting, to some are now willing to take the ilvl scaling if Blizz would do this or that for them.

A differing opinion, must be shill.

It is a bad poll.

" No It doesn't or hasn't affected me" is multiple groups bunched into one:

1) People who don't play
2) people who play, but don't do that content
3) people who play, do that content, but don't care
4) people who play and haven't realized the extra time it takes them
5) more I could list, honestly.
And that's just that one, choice.

IT IS A BAD POLL. Anybody who has taken Statistics 101 could explain why, regardless of how they feel on this issue. For the record, being a long-time MMO-C forum lurker/occasional poster, the majority of polls there are poorly written. And inherently biased samples, given the source.

Please stop linking it.

so i did a little testing using a 103 druid tank (really horrible gear) and a 110 Monk tank. so if the monk so much as touches the mob the druid is tanking the damage goes up somewhere between 10% and 20%. I did not test as grouped but as if a horde heroic raid geared had run by and tagged. this could be used as the ultimate grieving weapon of the last 5 years especially if the lower level char is tanking multiple mobs. scaling its a killer!

Yeah it has happened to me 3 times so far on my fresh dinged 110 lock in the last few days. It totally sucks. I look at it as yet another way Blizzard allows PvP to be forced on those of us that rolled on PvE servers because we want nothing to do with PvP. No we don't get flagged but it is still players getting players killed. In fact it gets around the flagging entirely.

You forgot to mention that same person can vote multiple times, adding more inaccuracy to the poll.

...

Like these forums are skewed with players using their alts to double post and inflate the voting system?

I'm sorry, but if you're going to omit data because of tampering then ALL the data must be omitted.
What voting system on WoW forums Like/Dislike system?
You can't use an alt to select another Like or Dislike unless you have two accounts. How many people have two accounts and would bother to do that?

Um I have 3 accounts but I would not bother to do that.

1) This didn't fix faction tagging
2) This didn't fix group tagging
3) This didn't fix CRZ-related issues
4) This (may have) fixed one-shotting, but doesn't resolve the above issues, which doesn't fix the problem of a bad lowbie (or main in a crowded area, ie BS) experience
5) It's added a new way in which players can be harassed, intentionally or unintentionally, by those already geared. So it replaced one problem (high geared folk clearing zones) with a new problem (high geared folk scaling mobs up).

Again, i was so vocal about how they designed the AP system in 7.2 my fingers bled. It is the worst thing they have done to this game EVER, besides the sneaky scaling!

It boggles my mind how they can sit in their ivory tower, looking down on us and telling us we should play THIS WAY or no way at all. Thats EXACTLY what they did with the new AP that can not be finished, basically EVER. It is the first time something was intentionally put into the game that can not be finished. It is also the first time they are punishing us for farming AP by giving less and less the more you farm, and THEN making the end goal un obtainable to boot!

Then they add scaling behind our backs, i would have never thought that blizz could become worse than EA, sadly i was wrong.

To be fair, Blizzard is not worse than EA. Just this one dev team is.
So, ilevel scaling not reverted?

I'm disappointed.

Zone scaling should be reverted too. Not coming back until it is.

Say wut???? I am missing something here for sure lol.

Sorry for the off topic post.
We're getting a bit restless. Can a blue poster comment, not necessarily regarding the nature of what Blizzard's decision will be, but perhaps a rough time frame on when they're planning on making that announcement?

They're hoping that if they wait long enough, never.

Hardly off-topic. MMO-Champion had gotten into the topic so you're fine. But yeah, MMO-Champion is notorious for their stance on the current state of World of Warcraft. They make some decent points but the majority of them simply outright hate WoW after the end of Wrath of the Lich King.

I'm happy to work for it, but c'mon Blizzard! Want us to do an Arena match too?!

Don't give them any ideas! Yeah, I was willing to accept the working for it bit IF (1) they listed all the requirements up front and (2) I could work on those requirements at my own pace. No time gating like in Legion and no "complete the requirements and then wait until we decide to give you flight" like in WoD.

Yeah... and I just now found out that Pathfinder Part 1 requires LFR.

I did LFR, once. Never again.

Screw this dev team and their vision, I'm done.

I'm of the opinion that zone scaling was actually good, keeping zones relevant throughout launch. I liked world quests, for a while. But they did get old. Fortunately, my gear/power gains offset that, made them faster, and kept them tolerable. I like the idea, DURING AN EXPANSION, of stepping into Azsuna and having it be relevant. If Zone Scaling had existed in Wrath, I would've spent a lot more time in Grizzly Hills! I actually like it.

But that's it! Key words: Throughout launch. That's when LAUNCH content is relevant. Beyond that, it starts to fall into repetition/recycling/grind. Which isn't real, new content. It isn't "content" that keeps longer because mobs take longer to kill. It's just recycled content propping up other aspects of 7.2 that are problematic. Broken Shore is small, has recycled demon content, little to no story (that's gated) and the events are buggy, group/faction-tagged/camped, and has a UI that makes you a victim of your cluster's bad choices (case in point, going for Mage Tower first under the wrong assumption that MT would be do-able at lower gear levels for most players AND that there was a reputation buff...which I guess was a hold-over from PTR?).

But I like having the power level of zones capped at 110 ungeared level. I don't like mobs scaling past that. By the time I've obtained gear on my main, those zones are old, tired, maybe even stale. I want new (BIG) zones.

ilvl scaling removed much of that power progression, without fixing the issues it purported to fix.
