Mobs are still dropping faster and faster the more gear you get. It may be slower than it was, but you're still getting stronger.
This is what they said was the intention, but it's not what I'm seeing. I posted weeks ago in the 1st thread about this, since then I've increased my ilvl by 4 and honestly I'm feeling weaker than before. I think mobs are actually scaling faster than me, but what is for sure is that this only takes into account ilvl and not things like having replaced your best stat for your worst one.
And since it's based on bag ilvl to avoid cheating the system by unequipping a ring, if you have higher ilvl items in your bags than the ones you're currently equipped with, for example to have an easier time getting invited to pugs, mobs are in a very real way scaled for a higher ilvl than yours (This is why they removed non-equipped legendaries from affecting bag ilvl, to use that ilvl as reference and don't allow players to bypass their terrible system by unequipping an item and enjoying the game like they've earned)
In short I can't believe that 3 weeks in and this is actually getting worse. I'm sure that it affects my class-spec more than others, but that's besides the point.
I'm seeing what you are, Astrilid. It's taking longer for me to kill regular mobs out in the zones at 898 than at 890, 880, or even 876. It doesn't feel right. I have noticed that WQ enemies seem to be scaled up more than mobs that are just roaming the zones.
When I was 890, I had items in my bags that would push my bagged ilvl up to 898, now I have items in my bags that would push me to 903. So, unless it's designed where there is a bump when you're bagged ilvl is 900+, not sure what's going on.
The scaling is also incongruous on Broken Shore compared to original Broken Isles zones. I can kill enemies easier there than some of the ones in Highmountain et. al, short of the BS rares which have a lot of health.
I also noticed that "boss" WQs where you have to kill 1 enemy, white colored ones scale way different than the Danger blues—there is a much wider difference between them than before ilvl scaling started. White colored ones I can destroy like they are some old trash (I 2-shotted one of them yesterday), but blues seemed to be scaled more appropriatley, where I burn all my CDs at the start of the fight and can kill them before my rotations/cds are done, which is more how they behaved before ilvl scaling started (but still tougher than before ilvl scaling at this ilvl).
I think the main thing that bothers some of us about this is that we put in a lot of time to get the right gear with the rights stats—be it from mythic +, raids, crafted gear—which allows us to do harder content where that gear is required, yet the content we have surpassed due to our gear is being scaled up so we need to spend more time on it. Trash mobs my pet started one-shotting that now take 5 attacks to kill seems excessive, if not a blatant example of a time sink.
