PSA; can we refer our pug with their name and not class, spec, or roles? (EDIT; ESP DONT CALL THEIR RACE)

Or pig Latin, Amaitsqay.

It’s trolling, if it wasn’t over the top, then it’d just be boring.

We should play by NPC rules and all call each other ‘Champion’.

Just say dispell, then dont even wait a microsecond before DISPELL! At that point just spam it in caps while dispell is coming off CD.

(Disclaimer I havent had a group wide dispells this season torment me but I vaguely recall instances of being yelled at when I’ve had to pick who to dispell and who to throw heals into while I wait for it to come up again lol)

I actually like your point, OP. It’s never bothered me to be called “healer” or “priest” but the people who actually use my character’s name always have a little more shine to them. Idk, just makes you feel more seen, I guess :revolving_hearts:

If someone is offended by being called by their role, I don’t know what to tell you.

It’s so easy to find mundane things to get offended by.

Better yet parrot Brann. “DONT STAND THERE!!” “Next time let’s try a different strategy”. People will get sick of it and listen FAST. Side note…Was funny dying from falling in Fungal Folly and him same to try something else. Like Man, I’m not a mage with slow fall I’m a hunter who drops like a rock!

He told me to try harder hitting abilities after I died falling in there.

Ha ha, yeah.

Some kind of knockback pushed me off the top level on Sidestreet and into the poison water. I get back onto the bottom platform and feigned death (this was on my hunter), only for Brann to pull the ENTIRE DUNGEON running back to me. Death followed soon after. “Let’s try something different next time”? Maybe take your own advice, man…

some people have weird names. i like using the class instead, stays consistent over time

You don’t?

Canonically, I am. /YW.

Skill issue, and we have/had vent/voice/disc.

Agreed. We should adopt our own name as a first person pronouns like in some Austronesian family languages where using your name as the first person pronouns denotes intimacy, closeness and familial bonds.

Hey fam, no one is talking about being offended. The are definitely people offended by this thread though and that’s make sad :frowning:

“this person has brought out his opinion and POV that doesn’t resonate with mine, so they must be trolling”.

Yea, my gnomish cake brings all the horde bois to the yard. Sorry idk are u a boi or a grrl because i don’t know the difference between male and female ogres, I’ll do better mr/mrs/mss ogre shaman. :frowning:

Can we not use my pet name in public, Babe? You are making me blushing front of the tall folks. I’m blushing as red as a rogue here. Teehee.

I do! A great pug always starts with “o/, meowdy”. I always " o/, meowdy ;3" to my puggies.

o/ Meowdy ;3

Rude :triumph::triumph::triumph:

I type whichever is faster. If tank (4 letters) is faster, then i use that. If you think typing Goblincakez is faster, then you do you.

I only exclusively use pet names in public.

Hey gnome, no.

I didn’t parse your name, your race and your class were the first 2 things I saw and both convey enough information for you to know I am referring to you without adding additional load onto me saving your name only to need to forget it later as I’ll never see you again. If I intend to see you a second or third time then I might remember your name.

For me it’s about the mental effort required to type someone’s name vs their class/spec/role. The reason is that a class or role is already something everyone has memorized and the most important thing about your group. A mage is a mage, a tank is a tank, a healer is a healer, etc no matter what group you’re in.

So when you’re trying to type fast, not only is typing “druid” easier than “Leynia”, but it’s easier to think about and form a sentence around when you’re in a rush and probably thinking about multiple other things too.

To think of it another way, when you’ve said “tank you can pull faster” 100 times in the past, it becomes easier for you to type “tank you can pull faster” than it is to type “Grok you can pull faster”.

Just like in real life, if you’ve been answering the phone a certain way every time, it becomes a lot harder to switch up that greeting on the fly. Adding someone’s character name to your message, a name that is likely unique that you’ve never seen before and probably don’t know how to pronounce half the time, takes a certain amount of mental effort.

Maybe that’s just me though. I’m not against the idea of using people’s names, but just saying why that can be hard to do in the moment.

I only respond to insults and nicknames tho

I don’t know about the rest of you but my pugs are filled with two types of names.

  • Fartbucket
  • Aêmolræoneautteilll

Neither of these types of names deserve recognition.

This sounds like a healers problem.

Just like everything else. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

As a youngest sibling, I don’t respond to my name. It means I’m in trouble.

Shout out to Loudfart, the best mage I’ve ever known.
