Just in case something goes wonky during patch/mx, it’s happened before.

It’s just a good idea in general to save a backup here and there.
Oh, and on a semi-related note there’s a really cool addon called Myslot that lets you more or less copy-paste keybinds and where your abilities are on your bars to alts for anybody who’d prefer to avoid tediously rebinding new chars.
Backed up mine earlier this evening. 
But yeah, this is good advice.

(Aka: after hours of playing around with the UI customization ideas, I ended up only moving 3 action bars in the end … would take me less time to rebuild from scratch than to save/reload)
i’m not sure how to back it up. 
Is it in the retail WTF folder?
- Open up Edit Mode in game
- Click on drop-down arrow under ‘Layout’ (upper left of Edit Mode HUD)
- At the bottom of the menu, click on ‘Share’ then click on ‘Copy to Clipboard’
- Then paste it into a document and save it (I saved it in an e-mail).
If you end up needing to restore your UI, you can just copy the data in the document and use the ‘Import’ option in Edit mode.
Go inside the retail folder and backup both the WTF and Interface folders.

Default UI is bad and you should feel bad for using it,
post above also backs it up, anyways, alongiside backing up custom UIs and addon settings.
has already been happening to me and all im doing is creating new toons. maybe every 3rd toon i made so far the UI is messed up.
