Prot Warrior vs Prot Paladin

Whenever this is the question, “Yes” is almost always the answer.

You answered your own question… Prot warriors are fine.
Only the sweats require Prot pallies/Bears.
99% of other guilds are fine with any of the tank classes.
Your DPS specs are much worse off IMO (until ICC when you become S-tier). That’s where warriors have a legit gripe.

i actually think this is true. prot warr consistently attracts the big brain players. it certainly did in original tbc and it seems to hold true today. i’m talking like the extreme theorycrafters

You will be fine. Only some super sweaty try hards will refuse a warrior tank.
Perfectly capable of doing all content. You may only reach some barrier for Lich King fight. Heroic lich king I should add.

Prot warrior is one of my top favorite specs. Along with resto druid and MM hunter.
Double charge is amazing. Dive in. Clap. Cleave. Shockwave. It just feels good.

Play what you like.

i mean in general i think that is the case for any class most fights need at most 2 tanks, and usually a tank is the first spot that gets filled when creating a guild

Your completly wrong most guilds dont want a war tank they need buffed, most guilds take prot pally or dk tanks over wars

Um, they want prot pala because it’s better, but it doesn’t mean Prot Warr can’t do all the content. WHy have prot warr when prot pala does it all and better.

Get rid of tanks all together but allow bosses to be cc’able. Now that would be exciting gameplay.

class benching is a thing in some cases because ppl who play classic have a dump home life. play what u want, theres always a group thatll get you, a buncha ppl at least on my server the groups are always diversified, anyone is welcome, player not class that kinda stuffs and there’s never an issue. play the game and enjoy it in every way, thats the reason to be playing a game in the first place

WARRIOR
Shield Wall/Last Stand/commanding/vigilance(KEK)

PALADIN
Ardent Defender/DivineSac/Buffs/Salv/Auras/Lay On Hands/Sacred Sheild/Dispell/DI/Self Heals/Holy Shield/3 way taunt/Wings/Consecration/better single target & aoe threat

Warrior is more enjoyable to me tanking in Ulduar, but we are comically outclassed. Paladins are superior as tanks in this current raid content. There is maybe room for 1 warrior who is geared enough to both OT and play fury.

Play a Paladin. Holy/port is 3000x better than Prot/fury. Ret also becomes busted in ICC because of their tier, on top of a buff they got which will amplify the brokenness they use to have in ICC.

Three top of the line specs for Paladin vs. 2 Mid tier specs for warrior.

GG Blizzard.

Wrath of the Paladin King.

Paladins have a lot of “oh crap” buttons/spells/talents to avoid death/mechanics/debuffs.

Warriors only block damage.

This isn’t true at all. Warriors are insanely good, brokenly overpowered even, in small group content. You can top dps by a mile while tanking, spamming revenge.

Best small group Tank in the game I reckon. They lose out to other tanks in a Raid setting. And only on the more difficult encounters.

I think its just a skill level thing. A top skilled warrior and paladin will be alot closer to each other rhan a mid skill warrior and paladin. I think thats why there are more just simply bacause paladins require less skill to be good.

I like healing warriors more. They feel sturdier. Paladin tanks feel on the squishier side in my anecdotal experience.

What is this phrase I keep reading in these forums? Why do people keep referring to people as “sweaty?”

prot wars need a buff to be equal to prot pallys in raid, most raids use 2 prot pallys and no prot wars it should be even for all all tanks instead of most guilds taking pallys just give prot wars ardent defender that would make them more wanted

Have you ever perspired while playing WoW? Imagine having that happen every time you play WoW. Imagine putting so much effort into min/maxing your gear and rotation that you were sweating all the time every single time you played.

I have a tendency to fall asleep at least once per gaming session. I should probably submit to a sleep study to screen for narcolepsy.

bumping this one prot wars still need some type of buff and feral tanks need some love also

I’d say the main difference is rage vs mana.

They are both block tanks, so there is some similarity in that their shields mitigate an amount of physical damage per hit.

Paladins bring raid utility via blessings, seals, and some situationally strong skills like Lay on Hands, Divine Shield, Hand of Protection, etc. while also being able to clear magic debuffs off themselves or others.

Right now paladins just bring a lot more to a raid than warriors do, in any spec. Will you be able to find a spot as a prot warrior in a raid group? Maybe! Tanking spots are pretty rare in established raiding groups, but if you do, you can be sure they have a Paladin tank already.
