Prot Pally WOG Mana Cost

Idk if I’m alone on this, but I play Prot Pally for Off-heals and externals. I like the new mana refund for Word of Glory on myself in Beta, but the 100% increased cost on others is excessive!

I’m on the fringe end of this style of gameplay: but in Live servers I spend like 80-90% of my WoG’s on others. (Personal preference; it’s how I like to play, and no, I don’t die).

Right now in Beta you can cast 5 WoGs on others before going 100% OOM. (50k mana, 250k mana pool) Felt very limiting, idk.

I’m sure catering to my style of gameplay isn’t healthy for the game, BUT what’s even more unhealthy for the game is Avenger’s Shield (the interrupt). Right now all the dungeons have WAY too many casters, so the meta is going to favor Prot Pally again. And I’m sorry a tank with as much utility as Prot should never be meta.

Idk, I just like helping out newbie healers and friends with their 10-12 keys. Off-healing helps with that.

Not to mention, Guardian and Brew received more options to off-heal in the Beta than they do in Live servers. Which is awesome! But… gimme lol.

If some pro player running brew comes out offhealing to prot pala levels it will be nerfed just like prot did.

I’m not a PvE’er, but I suppose that’s the price we pay for that same heal now healing us for 100% of what it hits them for. Two heals in one, double the price. As a PvP Prot I don’t really have a dog in this race because if it bothered me, I would simply take Bear the Burden.

I’m gonna just go ahead and place this opinion gently in the trash.

I do like the support-tank playstyle though, of healing allies and off-tanking and buffing. Kind of a well-rounded support role. I wish we had a whole niche for that role in WoW, but sadly the one spec where they tried something different was lambasted by everybody because it was either too strong or too weak depending on tuning, and was forced to take a dps spot.

I still remember Legion WoG: two charges, MASSIVE heal on three party members. It was so good.

As a PvP prot Bear the Burden is a half baked bandaid fix that with the changes to wog on yourself returning mana feels even worse. It effectively makes it worthless to heal allies on it’s own and is a glorifed freedom cooldown reduction. 5 wogs in combat before going oom is paltry, especially when the move is overloaded with negative modifiers on it in pvp after years of nerfs. If we only get 5 they better be chunky imo.

i mean, im sorry but the game is designed around pve formost and thus it trickles down to pvp.

wog for prot was dstroyed because of a 4dps 1 tank meta that appeared in df start. now in midnight its a decent middle ground. im sorry people like to offheal, but you really shouldnt be doing that as a tank

Not necessarily. I can cast WoG with impunity with the talent, serving as a way to keep health bars topped off. Divine Purpose makes for even more casts, and as a prot, holy power is plentiful due to all of the hammers flying everywhere.

I wouldn’t bother in Midnight though, as Shield of the Righteous is getting a pretty substantial buff, making it the better spender for Holy Power.
