Is Prot Pally off meta?
Lava burst ? Lightning lasso ? Still has too many cast with potential interrupts.
According to drustvar in 3v3 the only specs less popular than prot pal are guardian, prot war, blood dk, vengeance dh, and brewmaster. Prot pal has 0.81% representation, just behind frost mage with 0.86% and arcane mage with 0.87%
That’s .81% to much representation.

Prot is hard to play at high rating. There’s a reason I’m the last gladiator prot playing on prepatch. I can always make prot work but it makes it way harder than any other spec or class so it’s not worth it for most people. With buffs, prot will be way more accessible again, there’s a lot of buffs coming to prot every week so it’s going to be very good and I’ll make videos to show people how to play it in pvp and increase the amount of prots on the ladder and solo shuffles.

u dont actually cast lava burst ever if you have at least 4 flameshocks up, you lose dps by casting instead of spamming the button while moving because procs will happen faster than you can cast.
lasso yeah but it’s a really OP ability.
You could also play hunter which is literally a ranged melee.
Anyway with the adding of kick to every healer now, prot is arguably a lot less cancerous. I will say that every 45 seconds angel bubble thing is dumb in pvp and should be removed.
It’s because prot sucked and i was the only one good enough at prot to make it viable in pvp.

Here is the problem with those numbers, as someone who has insight how Drustvar pulls it’s numbers. It only factors what the player is currently spec’d. So someone could have played 90% of a season a swapped spec’s recently so those numbers now only factor their current spec. Or they could play a different spec say in M+ and logged out as that. Not saying those numbers could/would be drastically different one way or another, but they can be misleading. It’s also prepatch so things could change as far as what people are playing come lvl 70.
