Problem: There is a disconnect between players and the the Blizzard Devs that is causing unnecessary friction, specifically around balancing and the “State of the Union” in PvP. This has been a reoccurring theme over the years, but has seemingly come to a head this season with the dominance of a specific meta in the pro-scene.
Proposal: Regular and scheduled written updates from the Blizz PvP Devs to the PvP Community around their thoughts on the current “State of the Union.”
Details: Speaking strictly to the current season, there have been numerous Tweets, Reddit posts, YouTube videos, and just a general grumbling from the PvP community around various “issues” with the current meta. Regardless of if those are warranted or not, the community’s frustration with the lack of updates is obvious. This proposal is NOT for regular balancing changes, but instead a simple communication on a weekly/bi-weekly cadence that helps the community to understand what is going on behind the curtain. It would also:
-
Help the community understand the PvP Dev’s thought process (Reason behind making or not making changes, timing, etc.)
-
Create the opportunity for players to feel like their voices are being heard
-
Promote a healthier dialogue and relationship between players and the dev team
Admissions: Personally, I understand that WoW PvP is a delicate balancing act and that Blizzard strives to not make “knee jerk” changes that might fix one problem, but create two more. I also understand why people are continuously feeling disenfranchised from the game due to the disconnect between dev and player. The solution to starting to solve this disconnect is communication.
Thank you for the laugh this morning
Just referencing their own statement. Doesn’t mean they haven’t in the past or won’t in the future, just that they have it in mind.
The game is quite balanced for the most part. Every class has a place. the problem is so many people think that anything other than what the AWC teams are playing is bad.
Thanks for the feedback. I won’t get into my own thoughts as to not take away from the overall message.
This is meant to be a way to operate moving forward, regardless of the game’s current balance state.

Now this is the type of content i come to these forums for.
this popped up on wowhead this morning. look at how many changes just the raid has gotten not even including the pve balance changes. pvp has way less changes than pve and a fraction of the changes as the raid. they just dont care about pvp at all, i mean pvp always gets the short end over the years but its way worse in recent years.
anduin has more changes by himself than pvp has got this patch

Ion doesn’t value the PvP part of this game and never has thus how little attention it receives.
While personally I agree that changes are needed, I’d welcome simple communication from the PvP Devs in the meantime and think an open line being created here would help greatly. Even if there are no changes, something similar to the blue post that comes along with the raid changes mentioned in your article. Simple dialogue on what they’re working towards.
The President of Blizzard and WoWs game director have a combined honor level of 14… not 1400 not 14,000 but 14. Mike Ybarra doesnt even have the Step into the Arena achiev which is simply win a ranked arena match
