Proper Footwear

So I was reading another post. I was in there, talking. We got on the topic of hooves.
So naturally Tauren and Draenei.
Why do they not have “horseshoes”, aka shodding. Why are the Tauren and Draenei unshod?
Do you know the kind of damage that hooves take with all this running and questing and fighting? Climbing mountains, walking over broken rocks and gravel. Paved/flagstone roads and pathways…all of those things cause damage to the feet.

IRL, we “Shod” horses. It is a profession, called a “Farrier” who puts “shoes” on horses and cattle, and sometimes goats.
Horses have a U-shaped hoof, so we put the metal U-shaped shoes on the very bottom of the hoof. It prevents the hoof from cracking and splitting. It is a health hazard in the extreme. Split/cracked hooves can cause deadly infections, or just make the horse/cattle lame. Incapable of walking. IT IS A BAD THING!

So why do the Tauren and Draenei not have proper hoof protection?
It is a small visual, add a sound effect (its already in the game, so just copy/paste?) and bam, no more split hooves for our allies!

I know it sounds stupid and just plain silly…but it makes sense, and would be (I think) super easy to add it in. Maybe even make it tmogable. Make it blinged out with diamonds and gold or something, ya know?

Do you put horseshoes on say, dairy cows? I’m asking because I do not know.

I googled it and I guess cloven hooves don’t get horseshoes.

LFD having “shoes” seems to be a liberty the developers took.

No, I’m wrong, they wear MORE shoes than horses. Two for each hoof, because they are cloven.

Maybe? My stepdad worked at a Dairy Farm. I visted a few times. The one he worked at, the dairy cows were shod, but that was because they had a huge hangar-sized building, where each cow had its own little stall, and the floors were concrete.

If they are just regular cattle, they just wander around. I helped brand and castrate about 85 calves over the course of a couple days…regular cattle don’t get shod because they are out in the open grass. They are not really doing anything to cause unnatural damage to their hooves.

So whether or not they get shoes, depends on the environment. Like I said, our Tauren and Spacegoat allies are constantly taking heavy unnatural damage to their hooves, and it is unhealthy for them to continue without proper footwear.

Well, from what little I read, it seems shoes on dairy cows aren’t as important as for horses because they do different things, cows mostly just graze, they don’t really run or do tricks or whatever.

But in that case, I think Tauren and Draenei WOULD wear shoes because at least game wise, they would need them for protection with all the adventuring they do and the dangerous situations they find themselves in.

The Light Glitter Space Goats are shod.

They have legit golden horseshoes. I actually dig that part, and I am not a fan of the Draenei otherwise.

It makes sense for them, given their architecture is metal flooring. The Tauren, however, roam grasslands, so it makes sense that their hooves are natural and are left unshod.

Because they haven’t fully embraced the light, look at the LF. The light gives you shods!

I can see that…but we are the Adventurer. The Hero. The Champion of Azeroth! A Tauren hero is delving into deep caves, forgotten tombs, lost archives. Cities and towns…places where there are paved roads…
You would need the shoding.

We got this with the new mogs, sadly they look terrible and unadjusted for hooved races.

Not a horse that is why.

And yet, you still have hooves that need proper protection…

Help me!

Blizzard nailed sandals to Pandarens feet. I would like a toggle for that, but I can see why Taurens and Draenie would be jealous.

I’m for horseshoes for Tauren and Draenie for a toggle option if Pandaren can please have a toggle option for sandals.

Well they are self-aware people who have the ability to take care of their hooved feet with their own two hands.
