I just started playing the game and used a character boost. What professions can I get to help make gold when I advance on to the new zones? Like the latest zones.
You should go for mining + skinning. Usually professions that gather raw reagents are very good in gold farming.
I would suggest mining and herbalism.
Mining provides mats for 3 crafting professions, herbalism for two, and skinning for one crafting profession.

I’ve had the most success with Herbalism and Alchemy, but your mileage may vary.
Herbalism/alchemy is typically a good combination. You may want to visit your server’s auction house or the Undermine Journal to see what the top sellers are. I know on my alliance server, raw materials are much more profitable than pre-made flasks/potions. However, on my horde server the whole economy is jacked up and nothing sells.
