Professions dormant because of Expulsoms

And what for? They are soulbound and the only thing they are good for is some follower equipment and a cauldron for raiding. That makes them useless for players who don’t raid.

OP posted that they could not advance their professions because they NEEDED expolsum. That would put them in one of the groups you mentioned. Do you have anything actually productive to add?

Most of the Azerite gear doesn’t sell. That is where I get mine from. I sometimes break down armor if its worth under 35ish gold. I agree though Expulsom is garbage. Its really just another way to keep players from earning gold which has been the theme all of BFA it seems.

Forgive my ignorance here, I just re-subbed, so it Expulsom a boss drop that is used for most crafting recipes?

I am the OP and yes I can make expulsoms on my Alchemists, but they don’t benefit them in the least. If they weren’t soulbound I could send them to my alts who are having the biggest problems with their professions.

You can only get it from destroying gear, and you need it to make items that give the last skill ups for professions. Sometimes they are a reward for world quests.

And all of my characters are Alch/Whatever so I literally never have this problem. It’s called offering a solution. Take it or leave it. Alch is a busted profession that you should be taking regardless. 2 hour flasks and the ability to actually make gold is a pretty good incentive.

IMO they should make Expulsom BoE.

That would solve a lot of the issues.

I have an Alchemist for each faction, but I don’t want all my characters to be Alchemists

It would be nice if they were at least account bound.

Professions are absolute worthless trash goldsinks now, even alchemy isn’t doing all that great due to bot farmers and multi-boxers producing way too much and driving prices into the gutter. Add to that the lack of being able to craft anything even remotely useful either due to an absurd amount of very hard to get mats, and the fact that just about everything we can produce is trash compared to the loot that rains from the sky constantly. By the time you can even think about crafting something it’s already been eclipsed by yesterday’s WQs.

I gotta hand it to Ion and his team. They have completely wrecked this game, from top to bottom, inside and out, through and through. They really couldn’t do a better job of ruining it on purpose than they already have in their quest to make us have fun their way. I, for one, and appalled and horrified at the mess they have made. Unless their mandate was to destroy the world…of Warcraft, the entire dev team leadership needs to be tarred and feathered and run out of town on a rail.

Op,after trying out some of the new recipes ,yes I agree it is a waste of time .You can’t make gold off of them other then gems, some enchants and flasks, potions.Blacksmithing ,leatherwork and tailoring are useless can’t sell them ,you out level them ,random rng again so I just send them to be disenchanted or vendor.

So they kicked you out of school 600 times simply for doing some recycling??!? You must have been at Alaskan Military School where they’re crazy strict.

Read what you wrote, then read what I wrote. If you would have read my whole post and not stopped where I quoted you, you’d understand.

Then look at the thread title (which was corrected.)

See, it’s a joke… because the OP chose the wrong word… which was wide open for some comedy … especially since everyone that posted was missing it too.

In case I’m still being vague:

Professions in BFA are completely pointless. The low level stuff can be immediately replaced by Bentic gear, and the high level stuff is all BoP and requires raiding materials, which are usually replaced just as quickly.

Blizzard screwed up royally not having BoE craftables to allow for an actual player economy.

You get plenty of expulsom just from world quests if you pay attention. Almost everyday there is at least one up that will give you 5. You can also go and farm the world quests that provide trinkets - scrapping those guarantees you expulsom.

Making bracers from linen cloth and scrapping those is another way to get expulsom.

Expulsom is a whole lot more available now than it was at the start of the expansion when most people were leveling up and it wasn’t a huge issue for most people.

I probably have over 5 characters right now with over 100 expulsom just sitting there from the world quests alone.

I actually like the expulsom system because it made people have to put a little effort into professions and keep the people who weren’t willing to out of the some of the markets.

Do the quests at Darkmoon Fair for a +5 to your profession. Believe me, you will get capped faster that way than to try to get 30+ expulsom per point unless you really love to gear grind for the scrap machine.

Mostly useless professions. Benthic beats crafted. Unless you are an alchemist or jewelcrafter, any grind at all is wasted effort. If crafting was viable, it would be a different matter.

To be honest profession are joke now, I only do mining and herbing which helps me lvl my toons. Alch and jc’ing and enchanting, the rest are worthless. Tailing BS LW are a waste of time. Tailing maybe for disenchanting for mats. I used to love professions not anymore.

It may surprise you but that 370 and 340 crafted gear still sells. Not as good as before benthic gear but I make over 100k a week just from those.

“A fool and his money is soon parted.”

A 385 benthic piece costs 5 pearls. You can get that from a couple minutes of killing rares. But if they want to spend 100k a week on 340s, it’s their grind time and gold.

There is a fair number of people who just came back to the game. Those are the ones buying I imagine - the ones that haven’t got over there yet or who don’t want to waste the pearls their main gets on fresh alts.

All I am trying to say is that killing 2 or 3 rares or doing hours upon hours of dailies for scrap machine fodder… one is efficient, the other is not. That someone pays 10k for a 370 is boggling to me. But hey, you are making bank so all good. LOL
