Problems with Arthas

Jaina’s issues predated that and were probably more tied to worldbuilding conflicts; arguably since WoW she (and along with her, Theramore as a concept) always seemed caught in their own tug-of-war between WoW being a continuation of the post-WC3/TFT status quo and the sentiment that reviving the WC1/WC2 faction conflict theme was more important than observing that. Even the destruction of Theramore felt at the time like they were finally getting rid of an inconvenient relic of the last RTS that since WoW began had conflicted with the brainless simplicity of Alliance v. Horde just by still existing, and her character was dragged down along with it.

Consequently in WoW she’s spent years at a time in a state of the other characters all treating her like she’s either a naive idiot or a crazy warmonger because whatever the circumstances lead her to believe at a given point, everyone else chooses that moment to change their tune and suddenly agree with her old position while deciding she’s lost her mind for coming around to theirs. It’s like the whole cast of WoW were repeatedly written as somehow gaslighting Jaina by accident over and over again.
