Prioritizing profits with Void DH?

Correct, but some do, even if the number is small. I am prime example. After 9 years away from the game I came back and was lured by how cool evoker looked. I tried pres and fell in love with healing having never healed in the history of the game.

I acknowledge this is rare, but seriously, even if only 50 more tanks are available each night across the mythic +, raid finder and solo type content pool, thats a HUGE win in lowering the overall wait times for DPS players who sit in queue for an hour. The retention may be VERY small, BUT every little bit helps.

This new DH spec addresses the issue of Druid being the only class that can be tank and rdps as well.

Now finally there is an alternative and it was long overdue.

I’d love to have more tank spec options, but that doesn’t mean I expect more tank spec options being added to fix the relative distribution of people across the roles in this game.

I’m not against new tank specs. New specs and classes are cool. I’m just not going to be delusional and claim it’s going to fix the tank ā€œshortageā€.

Hate that term, btw. There will always be less tanks than DPS because it’s a leadership role that people do not want to take on.

most people who don’t want to tank/heal aren’t going to suddenly start because a new spec exists. they don’t tank/heal because they don’t enjoy the role.

Because it wouldn’t fix the issue. If the point if adding new tanking specs is fixing the tank shortage and the new specs won’t fix the tank shortage, why are we adding new tanking specs? For the vast minority of people who will actually switch roles?

Again with the insults. Do you look at the statistics? Go check raider IO, pres has been as the BOTTOM of the M+ pool of healers. Its a spec of a % compared to the rest.

It’s not about failing, I was quite successful. 2600 rating on my pres in S1 as a first time healer and frst time player after 9 years to me is impressive, especially given how hard the spec it.

It’s about how punishing it is compared to the other healers. Why would I try to tow my camper trailer with a honda civic when I can just hook it up to an F150 and get where I need to go faster, more efficiently and more effectively. THATS THE ISSUE. Pres is not a healer for new players, or new first time healers. Its far too comlex and punishing and this will not lead to retention. They had the right idea to introduce a healing spec with it, but its an instant turn off to anyone thats not really good at the game. And this is an artificial barrier as in order to get better, you have to PLAY it more. Just the positional requirements alone render it unplayable in majority of pugs. This goes against the grain again as a new player, cause new players are going to WANT to try and get into groups

Man its crazy how many people try to spin words and fiip a point to support their narratives.

Like sure, let’s teach 16 year olds how to drive in Mclarens F1 car on a track instead of moms prius. This is what pres is. Pres is F1, all the other healers especially shaman, are Prius. All the other healers can be carried in a key, but pres cannot. You HAVE to be decent or good. This is mandatory to heal as pres. How does this attract and retain new healers who never healed before?

Kinda wish they’d make several other classes have tank and healer specs. Even if they have to add it as a fourth spec.

No insult. I fail at some specs too. None of us are fantastic at everything.

Evoker isn’t for new players. The screen literally tells you that it’s an advanced spec. LOL

So how about we move on and listen to what’s being said, hmm?

I’m only going to quote this one more time:

Business 101 when you are a for-profit company.

Gives those who enjoy DH an extra spec, and encourages others to try it.

Adding one spec to one class is a two week project for a single designer. Tops. I suspect in Last Titan, a tech based expansion, our hopes for Tinkerer will be fulfilled with everything we saw in this expansion and come to fruition with the return to Ulduar.

Well, how about you and your friends makes some tanks. Stop being part of the problem and be part of the solution. :ok_hand:

Adding tanks and healers has never affected the balance.

Derailing and contradicting your entire point.

You started by saying ā€œTanking is boring, lets make it more complex!ā€ then spout this word salad about how Pres is too hard and doesn’t retain healers.

This thread isn’t even about healers yet you keep fixating on this one example. And then going on to tell others to stop using that example?

I’m done with this thread lol.

You mean a lazy third spec and an even lazier asset add in the form of void elves? Nah, Blizzard just wants to make us happy, I’m sure.

This is my last response to you cause all you do is twist everything. Dynamic doesnt mean complex. Having cool spells, a new class or spec fantasy, fun game play style, doesn’t need to be hard.

A company seeking profits over anything else? Unheard of.

Okay, hypothetically. Tinker class comes out, it has 1 DPS spec, 1 Heal spec, and 1 tank spec.

That new tank spec is like themed around being in a mech suit. It’s very cool. Lots of cool tinker gadgets and spells inspired by gnomes and goblins and ethereals and orc engineering.

But it’s like… It’s a fun tank spec. Like, it holds agro, but it PLAYS like a DPS.

Sure it’s not gonna immediately solve the tank shortage, but some people will play it. And because it feels different from all the other tank specs, and it feels more like a DPS, well… turns out a lot of previous dps players picked it up.

Now, instead of there being just X amount of tanks, there’s X + Some amount of players who now play tinker tank.

And just like Monk… it’ll still change nothing.

I’m not sure why this is so difficult to understand.

DH changed nothing. Monk changed nothing.

People don’t play tanks and healers because people don’t want the responsibility nor the backlash or blame.

Adding more classes doesn’t change that.

Did it really not change anything, though? REALLY? Were there really not any players who never tanked before Monk came out, tried it, and then loved the crap out of Brewmaster and are still tanking to this day? You can’t say that didn’t happen. It had to have happened to some players.

All this means is that there still isn’t enough tank specs to choose from.

Nope. Queues didn’t magically become shorter when a new class was added.

No, but queues are just a little bit shorter today, due to the existence of Monk.
