I also use these things, I play in a lot of “CBA” groups… decent players but they just don’t care because ya know, its 25 BFD. Lots of unnecessary damage… which is what you would typically find in pugs… so its a good comparison.
It is wild how good priests are… 20% nerf and they’ll still be #1 lol. Even with MS, it’ll be good.

Healers of every class are completely destroyed at 40 unless there’s a 50 percent dmg decrease in AB which there obviously wont be because a decrease of that magnitude would be blizzard admitting balance is so far off the mark and the state of pvp is a joke
That’s because priests weren’t the ones asking for the nerf. But you expect the almost pure healing class to be mediocre with everyone else, I don’t understand it. Same thing with the hunters, I can see where Hunter players are frustrated when literally their whole identity is to DPS but when they out dps every class, rightfully so because it’s all they can do, people are up in arms.

PVP is an afterthought… always was.
We know nobody at Blizzard actually plays the game, because they inevitably listen to players who don’t know anything about designing a decent game. We’re literally paying them to test the game for them.
They have no vision for what the game should be, which is why they suck at communicating what changes they intend to make/why they want to make them.
There are no big brains over there with some secret formulas for class balance. They’re throwing darts at a board and seeing which ones make the fewest people angry.
Honestly it is laughably bad. If you are in an uncoordinated group against 3 priests and 3 poms going everywhere healing all your uncoordinated damage it can feel very oppressive but 3 healers healing all of an uncoordinated possibly low geared pugs damage should be possible by any combination of 3 healers in the game if you ask me.
Premades shouldn’t fight pugs. Priest are only OP in certain scenarios, otherwise they are just time efficient and premading for rep is purely about time efficiency.
Give one class magic dispell at 25, make the hardest hitting ability in the raid require magic dispell, surprised pikachu face when people feel like bringing that one class is mandatory. It’s like talking to a brick wall.
In a good group no healer goes oom, in a bad group every healer goes oom and priest came out on top by just 5 average HPS, this nerf is going to seriously hurt BFD pug clear rates its actually quite sad.
I agree whole heartedly, i think the fact that the healing on circle of healing which is a mediocre spell at best was also nerfed by 20 percent when basically no one used it points that no one on the design team even plays the game really.

While I do agree, I personally find pvp particularly non premade BG’s the most fun and I don’t think wishing for even remotely balanced or fun PvP in what is essentially classic+ is a bad thing.
I think both the pve and pvp side of the game should be fun for everyone to play, PvP was an afterthought but it doesnt have to be locked in stone forever as an afterthought
I appreciate you not flaming me for saying it, most people can’t handle the truth. I really love PVP, I’m just a realist on how Blizzard approached it in classic. I did a BUNCH of WSG last night on the priest, and only 1 game was against another premade and it was the most fun I had all night. Was the only healer in a 10 stack premade and they had 2. We won 3-2 and the game was anxiety inducing from start to finish, these two rogues were STALKING me bro. PVP is a blast, but in classic it was -always- an afterthought, something “to do” between raid resets.
I think it’s really hard to “unlock” pvp from stone… I mean look at modern… We didn’t get separate PVE/PVP balance until the end of shadowlands… It’s not as cut and dry as people think. Any changes to a class have -huge- repercussions in PVE, and the majority of their subs come from PVE. While I think they -could- balance it, I don’t think they’re going to, outside of huge outliers. Its too much effort, and something they would have to spend waaaaay to much time on, while also trying to balance all these new runes in these new raids.

Well they are a small indie company so i do completely understand if they only have so much funds to develop this 20 year old game.

Everyone knows blizzard won’t balance it, will barely even “try” to balance it. Everyone already expects failure and blizzard is more than willing to not disappoint expectations!
New systems would have to be introduced, people would actually have to write possibly even hundreds of lines of new code, there would have to be a concerted effort of atleast 2 or 3 people to actually try.
And that just won’t happen. It happens in indie games made by one person all the time, it happens in games made by much smaller studios all the time. It happens in this industry all the time.
But we all know it will not happen with blizzard. We are on the farm and being milked like tauren.

The healing isn’t overtuned, the mana cost was undertuned, pretty big difference.
Stomping trash pugs as a priest when they dot your entire raid and basically make prayer of mending heal for free isnt being overtuned. The playerbase shouldnt be facing 3 priests as a pug in the first place.

I think that’s more because their design philosophy still revolves around PVE being the meta and PVP being an afterthought. Thats why they made the huge change to ranking, to make it more accessible, so people would spend less time worrying about pvp, and more time focused on the new content(Gulchers gonna gulch regardless tho, ya know?). They want people focused on the new content, including the WPVP. But classes don’t -really- need to be balanced in WPVP with hundreds of people and no comp stacking.

But yeah, I get your point. It would be nice if they put a -little- bit of effort. Honestly the way they do it in DFlight is the best IMO. Ability X does -% in BGs. Problem solved. Can’t be too hard, right?
My biggest concern with these abilities is that their mana costs do not reflect how much they give. It’s insane Star Surge is on a 1% base mana cost for instance. It does so much every 6 seconds. There should be sustain issues to worry about when spamming such a thing. Yet they thought reducing it from 4% mana cost was the play when it needed to be HIGHER mana cost.

As a decently geared priest and a fairly competant pvper…the class is way overtuned.
Some say the healing is too high and some say the mana cost are too low. In my opinion, its both. Spells are way too cheap and they heal for way too much.
It honestly needed adjusting for both pve and pvp. I still think with this adjustment (not a nerf, lets be honest it needed fixing) the other healing specs still need a ton of fixing. They need more power in their heals and also lower thier cost a little.
