Pres Evoker: Good starting point?

Hi folks,

I’ve primarily played Aug on and off, but I thought about investing some more time in this character. Preservation seems interesting but confusing to me.

I was wondering if there were any good beginner guides that were fairly current. I’ve looked at a few, but the spec still seems a bit confusing to me. Or if anyone had any decent general starter advice. Anything is appreciated!

Thanks!

Not sure if it’s what you looked at (or what was confusing specifically) but wowhead and icyveins guides are great.

Pres channel in the evoker disc (wyrmrest temple–you can google to find it) is legitimately the least toxic disc I’ve ever interacted with, and I’ve hit most of them. Whatever is specifically not clicking for you, they’ll help you out or point you in the right direction.

Are you looking more at raids or dungeons? Or both?

In my experience (and I’m not trolling here) the best way to learn a new spec is to start over. Make a dragon alt and start learning pres as you level. The game has a tendency to spoon feed you spells and abilities by relevance, meaning it’ll give you the ones you will tend to use most early and build from there and that’s a good way to learn spell priorities while also doing some easy dungeons with low stakes and you can learn about spells and talents as you get them rather than everything all at once like you would at max level. Once you get a handle on things you can bench that character and return to your main.

Jump into follower dungeons and stick with that until you are more comfortable healing groups. You either have the Bronze build or the Green build.

As above Wowhead & Icyveins have good guides on starting out.

Nobody ever mentions it, but the proving grounds are a decent testing area.

Just get used to hearing I am a wall of iron, but I cannot hold much longer when that panda tank gets ooga boogad

Follower dungeons were partially designed for this scenario, if you want to use them to practice. It’s not going to be the same as a regular group but it will help you get the basics down.

Read a few Guides…find a spec you think works for you…and jump in the pool. Only way you are going to learn is by doing it.

This is exactly what I did.
