Pre-Patch broke FPS?

Im having the exact same problem. My laptop would run at a constant 60 FPS before prepatch. I installed for the mount. I got the mount and uninstalled Wrath Classic. I go back to retail and every 30-45 seconds I drop to 12 FPS. It makes the game all but unplayable. I disabled ALL add-ons, checked settings, I even uninstalled Wow and reinstalled. The problem STILL persists.

None of these solutions have worked for me. Sunwell is unplayable it is so choppy. Iā€™m at a loss at what to do. I also have the sound issue as well

I had the fps issue after Prepatch was launched on the SWP 25 man raid. Now that i am doing Naxx 25 and others I have having some massive fps drops that stay down in the sub 20s. I have updated all drivers, addons, disabled all addons, Unistalled all and anything related to wow and battlenet to reinstall and logged on without downloading any addons at all and i still am getting 50-60 fps in Dalaran. Outside in the world i get 170 fps. I have tried all suggestions in this thread and more. Any ideas? Running a Nvidea GeForce GTX 1080Ti and i have had 90+ fps since day one of Classic changing nothing.

I just came back on here to complain about whatā€™s going on and I saw your post Dzy;

Ran naxx 25 last night, game literally feels 100% different since pre patch in SWP.
It runs like hammered dog crap, it basically feels like retail. Like having a 900ms spell que window; and low frame rate dips/stutters etc.

Iā€™ve tried everything

The one thing I really loved about classic was how purely it played even in 40 man raids, now the game has issues and it feels different. If anyone has any idea of what to do please send halp.

Plz donā€™t say its because im running on a toaster etc, I assure you I am not. My pc is very fast and capable. When Iā€™m out in the world running around by myself im at 500+ frames, and in raids 240+ and then BOOM huge dips for no reason.

Ya iā€™ve done everything i can think of and nothing fixes the issue. I get crap fps in Dalaran and 25 man raids. It is nearly unplayable. Upgraded some hardware, that also fixed nothing.

Yes! Iā€™ve been on m1 Mac mini and near full graphics settings with 60 FPS for almost 2 years and now I get stupid lag in groups: BGs and raids.

I guese we just keep posting and hopefully the one intern they have supporting this game gets to it eventually.

I have a beast computer and never had issues with WoW until recently. I get some lag in Dalaran and a lot of tearing which never happened until recently and if I put vsync on it causes me to crash

As OP stated. before pre patch I was running everything on ultra, multisampling at the highest rate etc. The issue here is they moved to the Shadowlands client for WOTLK. So ever since pre patch ive been getting dips from 140fps down to sometime 10fps. Iā€™ve adjusted everything to the lowest settings and now it dips down to 30fps yay. System specs: 3080ti, Ryzen 9 5900X, 64gb RAM, WoW install is located on the same M.2 drive as my OS (Win 11 if youā€™re curious). Addons: RC LC, WA (culled down to 4 that a critical to my class, for me at least) Details and DBM. Can blizzard actually fix this because the game is unplayable in 25man raids while everyone is casting+ boss effects.

Iā€™m also having similar issues. It seems to spike during big AOE abilities. Using a sapper, DKs dropping D&D, etc.

Frames have become very unstable, can agree. Most everyone is affected by this it seems.

The tearing is what Iā€™m mostly experiencing. It is constant in Dalaran and Naxx 25. Questing and 10 mans, Iā€™m smooth as can be.

Not having FPS issues but was getting tearing and solved it by putting my FPS to 163 instead of the native 165. Now it stays at a steady 163 instead of constantly going up and down at 165

my average FPS has dropped considerably since WOTLK Release, I thought I was the only one

Id really like to find a fix for thisā€¦ Super annoying tbh.

I have also noticed this. I notice it more, the longer Wrath runs. I have not looked yet, but if I didnā€™t know better I could swear there is a memory leak.

Again, I need to test to know for sure, so that is just a wild speculation right now.

Iā€™ve tried restarting wow right before a raid just to test that, it seems to make zero difference.

Itā€™s the fkn retail client blizzard uses now for wrath classic, instead of the client they used in vanilla/tbc classic when we had zero frame issues.

Anyone have any update on this? I am using a monster of a desktop and noticed HORRIBLE FPS drops in Dalaran, BGā€™s etc. In classic zones, 200+ FPS. I usually play on my MacBook Pro M1 Max and have had ZERO issues but when I switched to my windows desktop, which technically should be better, I get the opposite experience. What is going on!?

Fps during raids is inexplicably low and unreliable I worry every week about how itā€™s affecting my parse and if Iā€™ll ultimately be benched due to performance.

But literally at times there is a multi second delay and it is even sluggish to take inputs.

All started with prepatch.
