I disagree. Short games in this state is an example of just seeing who can press their buttons the hardest with no brain.

Longer games where you actually have to consistently setup and perform your class is what has an actual skillcap. Is there obviously a factor where it just becomes a boring thing? Sure. Owlplay Legs2 is an example of that. Unkillable classes that just PVE you to the ground isn’t fun. But that’s just tankiness taken too far.

same thing with tanks obviously. And this is where I think tanks get their hatred. Whenever a tank spec is viable, it’s an unkillable god spec that acts as a utility bot + healer or insane damage. But when tank specs are more fair (WODs3 Prot War), it doesn’t feel overwhelming and the dampening vs it feels perfectly fine.

Was it blizzcon or awc where both teams just mounted up and afkd behind pillars to wait for dampening so the game could start?

Anyone else remember this?

Easy to fix that. Start hard dampening earlier, with an accelerated clock until combat starts

Or just design classes better so that dampening isn’t a requisite. Games lasting 50 minutes in cata was awful. Dampening was warranted.

But there’s an extreme they hit in recent years where the balance seems to be either cata damp or current burst.

There’s a middle ground.

yeah start dampening instant because they’re too bad to balance the game properly.

MoP was the perfect middleground and you barely had dampening games unless you played a dampening comp yourself.

Idk about perfect middle ground but mop felt better than anything that has come after it. If only for grievous and pride.

yeah that’s pretty much how i feel about it aswell.

I’m not the greatest wotlk fan tho i enjoy PvE in cata alot. But everything after is just a different game made 10x worse for some reason.
