Based on the hope that we do NOT go to Avaloren/the Arathi Empire during the World Soul Saga, I just had a thought that could be neat for the expansion where we do
It could be cool if the first zone of whatever expansion we do go to Avaloren in is a rebuilt Draenei islands zone, akin to Quel’thalas here, and we use it as a departure point to get to the new continent where the bulk of the expansion takes place.
That way we have an excuse to revamp Azuremyst and Bloodmyst and give the Draenei a new city too.
And it makes a bit of sense, since that’s one of the closest existing zones to the storming sea. I know it’s right on the other side of the world from where the Arathi left but the world is round.
Hell, if the draenei city is a ship like I think was implied it could even be a Vindicaar situation where the city is both on Azuremyst Isle while we’re there and Avaloren while we’re there.
No telling where we’ll end up by the third patch. The only hint we had of K’aresh at launch was some shadow guard baddies during the pre-patch and a random ethereal boss hanging out in Queen Ansurek’s court.
Wouldn’t be shocked if we end this expansion by checking the Arathi Emperor into his locker before giving him a wedgie

2nd patch
were never getting a X.3 pacth again
Aye, my biggest fear for Midnight is that we go to Avaloren in a patch instead of doing the smart thing and leaving it for its own expansion.

2nd Patch.
The Lineup is Launch, 12.0.7, 12.1, 12.1.5 and 12.2.
Considering the inaccessible Island near Zul’Aman is treated as part of the Zul’Aman Map(https://youtu.be/UeYNmBmsXDs?t=370) it goes without saying that 12.0.7 is the Ulu-Tek Raid thus the Raid at the World Soul is 12.1 which means we need a different Villain for the Final Raid since Xal’atath is likely the Mid-Climax Boss.
In otherwords you might be right.
Most people I’ve seen talk about it have been speculating that Ulu-Tek is 12.1.. but I hope you’re right about it just being 12.0.7.
Though I also hope we don’t waste Avaloren in a patch. Raid at the worldsoul, though? Is that based on anything in particular? I assumed we’d save that for toward the end of TLT. An earthen somewhere near the start of TWW mentioned it’d be about five years before they fixed the Coreway, which would line up pretty well with the end of TLT assuming 1.5 year expansions.

Looking back on TWW all the pieces were there. We had ethereals and goblins hanging around and we eventually went to Undermine and K’aresh.
So what oddball groups are hanging around in Midnight
I’ve not finished the leveling campaign yet so this might be addressed for all I know, but it stood out to me in early Quel’thalas questing that the naga are “shipping” mass quantities of arcana into the Great Sea. If that’s not touched on in the rest of 12.0 it would suggest a naga patch, or set up for another expansion featuring naga.
Naga are known to be on Avaloren, too, so that’s concerning if it’s suggesting a patch lol

Umbric mentions that Xal’atath is bringing her Void Forces down into Azeroth so I would think that the next Patch takes place either at World Core or(should Xal’atath waste time chasing the Radiant Song) inside Beledar.
Hrmn… the Naga?
Tortollan are in Zul’Aman as well, but I don’t see them being antagonists or anything, and they’re doing their usual scholarly activities.
My guess is that one of the patches will heavily feature the Haranir, so maybe we’ll go deeper into the roots of the world trees. Haven’t started that zone yet, so couldn’t say for certain.
There’s also apparently a world out there where Draenei and Demons live pretty happily together.

Not necessarily. I could see Atal’utek and thus greater Zul’Aman being similar to zones like Argus, Strangethorn Vale and Vashj’ir. Where it is one big zone with smaller, separate zones within it. Besides, the roadmap for 2026 does not list a new zone for 12.0.7 and it is highly doubtful that Blizzard would prevent access to a whole island for what would be a 1 boss raid.
Also Blizzard has already stated what the 12.0.7 raid will be. It will be a one boss raid called ‘sporefall’ and it will be in Harandar.

As stated above, the 12.0.7 raid is a 1 boss raid located in Harandar called Sporefall. Therefore it is extremely likely that the 12.1 raid will be in Atal’utek as datamining has hinted at. Given that datamining on the beta revealed icons for an upcoming troll raid. Like how datamining for TWW revealed icons tied to a goblin raid (Liberation of Undermine).

It should also be noted that the 12.1.5 one boss raid will be like March on Quel’danas, where it will progress the story instead of being an isolated affair like the Dreamrift and Sporefall (12.0.7) raids.

Having now does at least the first zone, I say the oddest stand out is the Arathi that got called in by The Light. Immediately following the intro scenario where Turalyon and Lorthemar but heads there’s a pretty prominently placed Arathi paladin.
Naga in Eversong coast was kind of suspicious, too. Wonder if there’s any oddball raid bosses this season.
This is my biggest fear, too. Avaloren, assuming it’s a full-blown EK or Kalimdor sized continent, deserves its own expansion (or its own “saga” of expansions).
They’d be better off taking their time with Avaloren, creating like a 8-10 zone continent and releasing it after TLT.

Despite not having mentioned it too much yet, we already know enough about it that could suggest it having multiple zones worth of content.
There’s the Arathi Empire, but who knows how they developed in the last 2000 years? Perhaps they found a lost titan facility, or even an ancient Black Empire facility, and retrofitted it to be Light-based. If we wanna get silly and speculative, maybe the Apexis Arakkoa that ‘disappeared’ from Draenor after building a floating temple around 2000 years ago landed on Avaloren, and are part of the Arathi Empire. Or maybe it was their technology the Arathi used to take over Avaloren.
But staying to what we DO know, there’s the Arathi Empire, we know they’ve had skirmishes with the Naga so Azshara could well be involved, and we know that green dragon flew over the sea and potentially had a brood in Avaloren, so there could be a zone of ‘green’ dragons that are less nature-aligned and more light-aligned. Or perhaps they’ve evolved in a completely different way, being cut off from titan influence for so long. And that’s not to mention any new races or species they want to make up, whether they finally canonise the fifth old god, what was up with those ‘heretics’ Odyn was trying to send armies to crush way back before the Sundering…
Just one zone in a patch would be a massive disservice.

100% here for 5th old god on Avaloren!
Ulu-Tek in the 12.1 Raid already claimed the title of 5th Old God thanks to being an Old God in the RPG that introduced her and is currently next door to Zul’Aman.
Yven, Yven, Yven
Just because she was called one in the old RPG books, which btw are no longer considered canon does not mean she will be if she shows up in Atal’utek.
